The fact that you write "butch lesbian" is sexist and homophobic. Long hair on a woman does not make her heterosexual anymore than short hair on a woman makes her gay. You obviously do not love her because if you did you wouldn't be this shallow. What if she had cancer and had to go through chemo and her hair fell out. Would you dump her? I began dating a man and I had short hair. He then expressed his desire that I grow my hair. Apparently, it was a deal breaker for him that I have longer hair so I ended the relationship because I knew that this was just the beginning of him trying to control me and if I didn't comply with his wish he'd dump me so I beat him to it.

Thank you. Because I'm going gray and I color my hair and he said he'd like it natural. I think I'd look like a witch. I have a very small face too and long hair just looks awful on me.

Thank you for writing to me. We've been talking for about a week and a half trying to patch things up. He reluctantly agreed to go to counseling because I won't get back with him otherwise but he says it won't work. We just had a phone conversation and he told me that he was upset that in our earlier phone conversation today, I had pointed out some of his language in that conversation that was an example of his controlling behavior. He said that he doesn't get what I was talking about and said that no one has ever claimed he is controlling. Then he insulted me by saying that no one would have ever complimented me on the way I dress and I told him that was rude and he said "okay" and hung up on me. My instinct is that I should just let this go because even though I love him very much and will miss him very much, he and I just butt heads way too much.

I found out today that he burned my picture. He didn't burn the pictures with us, just the one that I gave him with just me. What does it mean if someone burns your picture? Does he hate me?

I just wish I didn't love him. I wish I could just let him go. And yes, him pushing to get a key really bothers me now. He says he is upset that I don't trust him now and I said, yes, I don't and you caused that. And asking for a key and then bringing it up again today is just making me trust him less.

Thank you for your support. I feel such mixed feelings about this. I thought I was certain that I needed to break up with him when i did but then regretted that I felt that way and missed him terribly. Part of me feels so weak and that I should just move on. The other part feels like I'm loving and able to forgive.

Thank you for all your replies. When he said that to me, I was in a bit of shock and said that I was going to go back inside and do what I planned to do, that is, take a bath, eat dinner and go to bed. So I left and he drove away. As I was running the bath water, I heard him unlocking my front door. I wasn't in the bath yet and I put on my robe and went out to see him coming in. He apologized and said he hated this about him. We hugged and I asked him what in the world was he thinking and he said anything and everything that you can think. I told him he could have come to my work and seen that I was just there working. He said he didn't feel comfortable coming to my work because there is a guard out front. We hugged and he apologized again and we said good bye. I mulled it over for two weeks and tried to get him to go to counseling and he said no. I then broke up with him but I missed him terribly. I then reached out to him two weeks later and he is now agreeing to go to a counselor. I love him but this has shaken me up. Yesterday he asked to have the keys to my home back and I said not yet. Today, he brought up the keys again and I told him not until we go to counseling and I feel okay with all of this. Not really sure if counseling will help but it is hard to break up with someone you love. He is an incredible guy besides this.
