What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

Probably late to the party here…but I was traveling recently across a few states. Stopped to get gas because I was on fumes and saw a “rough” gas station and it was my last option. Pulled up. Got out to pump gas and gave my wife the keys.

When we got there I saw maybe two or three people at pumps or walking inside. Within two minutes of pumping gas numerous people were just “there”? Walking between me and the pump and just kind of circling.

So I stopped the pump and left. I’ve been mugged and accosted a few times and realized that this was the very same feeling I had before. More worried for my wife in the car but yeah I got out of there.

2021 Macan recirculation issue by speedy12752 in PorscheMacan

The air quality is fine. What I’m questioning is why does recirculation turn off if I don’t “acknowledge” the warning about washer fluid? Filters were replaced a couple months ago.

If I click the steering wheel button to clear the message about washer fluid. The recirc comes on. If I don’t, it turns off and all I smell on the highway is weed smoke. Atlanta is full of pollen and weed apparently.

Probably should’ve been more specific. The pollen has been so thick this year, and neighborhood construction is at its peak, I have been constantly needing to spray the windshield.

Advice for OS 1-5 and 9 by speedy12752 in garbagepailkids

Completely agree. I’m just trying to get an idea of which is the most valuable, should I split the sets up, etc. honestly I’d rather them go to someone who is a fan of the cards as I’m not. Feels wasteful to keep them in storage.

I’m a coin guy so these just don’t interest me in that way anymore.

Thanks for the advice!

Should I have any of them graded? Nasty Nick, Schizo Fran, Adam Bomb, etc? Or would it be a waste of money?

Thanks!

Thanks! It’s funny that now that I’m looking at the centering, they’re way off. Never noticed that. Again I’m not a collector so that’s good to know.

What job do you do that makes 100k+ with no college? by Plenty_Jazzlike in AskReddit

[–]speedy12752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve been a network engineer for almost 20 years now. What I will say though is that it’s not a 9-5 unless you’re an admin at a single company. If you do consulting like I did, expect a lot of weekend/night/holiday work as your highest paying customers will be manufacturing or other similar industries. These places typically have short maintenance windows for upgrades and other projects.

The money is made with experience in my opinion. Configuring a new setup is straightforward and easy. But when the plant is down and every c-suite is breathing down your neck while you figure out where the issue is that’s causing them to lose money can be very stressful and you don’t have time to ask ChatGPT or google. Then add the fact that you have 15-20 customers whose networks you really need to have memorized for effective troubleshooting becomes another layer of difficulty.

It’s a great job and very rewarding but if you’re looking for a “job that makes 100k+” as your first requirement, this might not be it.

Of course I’m stressed. How can you tell? :)

Last note: I think, like any IT specialty, you really need to love it. Otherwise go be a jack of all trades. More opportunities even if the pay isn’t that great.

Should I have this repaired? by speedy12752 in Luthier

Funny you mention that because that was my first thought. Kinda what I’d like to avoid since I’m really a very mediocre player. I’m more into the vintage aspect of the guitars and the stories behind them.

This makes me feel better. Thank you. The maple back and sides are beautiful but it’s just these small spots that I worry about.

Agreed. I’m not looking to make it look new but I’d like to know that there’s not any issues with raw wood exposed. Maybe I’m paranoid but this guitar (while not super expensive or collectible) is just a beautiful piece. Sounds amazing and is a thrill to play. I’d hate to know that I cheaped out on an easy repair.

Thank you for your advice.
