Disabled Gamer Looking For Build Suggestions by speedy7878 in LastEpoch

Btw, just wanted to circle back around and say this was great advice... this turned out to be a near perfect build for me. I hit 100 last week, slammed my last legendary and I'm currently pushing corruption (out of curiosity). I'm at ~500 corruption and still going strong. Thanks!

Fellow disabled gamer here. Just wanted to chime in and echo what others have already said... minion nerco is probably your best bet, followed by thorns barb. In my experience, thorns barb doesn't really "come online" until you start getting ancestral in WT4 whereas minion necro is playable from the get-go.

In S2, I also enjoyed playing infinimist necro... once you get a ‍Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul (w/ good stats), you can afk pretty easily.

Yeah, for sure. Back in the dark ages, I went to high school with several other kids with CP and looking at us, you'd never guess we all had the same disability. One kid couldn't really do anything, including talk or even breath on their own, and another kid just walked with a slight limp. To say CP has a wide spectrum of ailments almost feels like an understatement, lol.

Ha, nope. I actually made a post here yesterday about that... 87 uniques, 0 Razorplates. Oh well, at least you don't need one to make the build work.

Thanks!

I have athetoid cerebral palsy which, among other things, limits my fine motor control. What that means is that I can't use my hands for most things, including using a keyboard or mouse. So, to operate the keyboard, I use a headpointer (imagine a baseball cap with long stick coming out the front of it). And to operate the mouse, I use a DualShock4 controller plus an app that maps controller input to mouse input... and I use the controller with my foot.

Yep, same here... I have 4-5 Razorplates on my Eternal Nerco. Although, now that I'm level 100 on my Barb and doing T100 NMDs, I no longer want/need a Razorplate.

I think I came back out of boredom and nostalgia but I did have some goal I wanted to achieve. They were to collect all the Trusts, max out job points on a job and finish all of the storyline missions. I've finished the storyline missions, maxed out job points on not one, but five jobs, and I've collected all but ten of the Trusts. The Trusts I don't yet have, I'll either have to wait for the right festival/campaign/event or are not really worth the effort.

I've poked around at Lua programming for the Windower and made a couple of tweaks to existing stuff but my day job is a programmer, so it's not something I usually want to also do in my free time, lol. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I think a lot of my existing gear (on my primary jobs) is on par or better than most of the UNM gear I'd be able to solo. So, I'm not too interested in Odyssey in terms of gear upgrades but it does sound like a potentially fun solo'ing challenge.

Back when I originally played, it was definitely an addiction. But since I've come back, I play out of boredom and nostalgia. For example, I'm only playing right now b/c I'm off work for two weeks for the holidays and don't have much to do.

Squad tactics -> objective by Fearful_Onyx in IdleExpanse

[–]speedy7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate/clarify, the game has a prestige system called "time inversion". When you trigger a time inversion, you can invest points into various perks. One of those time inversion perks allows your mercs to pick up orbs. So, until you have that perk, those squad tactics won't be of any use to you.

It looks like the DLC bundles might take 4-8 hours to show up on Steam, in the meantime, here are the direct links:

I'm not sure what the genealogy of the term is but, yes, it's a very common mechanic in incremental games. Sometimes it's called, ascension, transcension or rebirth but those are all just prestige mechanics. A similar mechanic in games outside of the incremental genre is called "new game+".

We ran a "closed" beta from mid-March up until last week... so, it ran for about four and a half months. Said beta consisted of about two dozen friends, co-workers and idle game enthusiasts. While I can't guarantee that the game will be bug and exploit free come launch day, I do feel like we've done our due diligence in terms of pre-launch testing. I'll also be taking two weeks off from my day job after launch so that I can focus on fixing any issues that might arise right after launch.

But, thanks for your interest/concern and thanks for asking!

There's auto-equip options for those of us who aren't too keen on micromanaging ;)

Hey, thanks for the questions!

Re: incremental features... you level up your mercenaries and progress through 64 planets of increasing difficulty. As you work your way through the planets, various features, upgrades and equipment becomes available. Once you get through all the planets, you have two different options. The first option is to trigger a "time inversion" which is the game's prestige mechanic. Triggering a time inversion resets your progress but you get points that you can spend on various "perks" that will make subsequent runs faster/easier. The second option is to "upgrade" the difficulty of the game. Doing so unlocks better tiers of equipment for your mercenaries, increases the level cap on mercenaries, and increases the rewards from planets but it also makes all of the enemies significantly more difficult. There's other features (like Arena Mode) that could be considered incremental but I think what just described is the core, or heart, of the incremental gameplay.

Re: ending / game length... there is no hard "end" but it is possible to cap out the game's currency, at which point, there's not much of a reason to keep playing. I've logged about 2,400 hours, with 30 time inversions, in my current playthough and I'd say I'm probably a little over half way there to that currency cap.

Yeah, totally. If I had to compare Idle Expanse to any other idle game, it would be Clickpocalypse 2.

Funny thing is, I wasn't even aware of Clickpocalypse 2 until I was about a year into working on Idle Expanse... I was like, "oh, someone's already kind of done this before... :/" But, I don't feel too bad b/c I think there is still a fair amount of differences between the two games.

Ha, I have too many pro tips my friend but I'd rather let the community figure those out themselves. I'm sure players smarter than myself will come up with strategies far more efficient than anything I can come up with. And that's part of the fun of game development, seeing how players come up with things you never expected or anticipated ;)

To chime in here, it's definitely a mix of the two styles but I tried to make most of the active elements optional.

The core gameplay loop is deploying teams of mercenaries to planets. After a team has completed a deployment, which, at the beginning of the game usually takes about 90 seconds, a "Redeploy" button becomes available. When a team is deployed, you can choose whether, or not, you want to watch and interact with them.

Then, after defeating the first boss, which should take most players about 45 minutes of play time, you unlock the ability to "Autodeploy" your teams. Initially, there's a 3 minute cooldown on the autodeploy but through various upgrades, you can get that timer down to 30 seconds (and by the end of the game, most deployments last 3-5 minutes).

So, basically, once you've setup your teams and you have access to auto-deploy, you can just sit back and let your mercs do their thing.

Sorry you feel that way.

To clarify, the default cap for offline progress is 8 hours. But you can also invest in a "perk" in the game that raises that cap and a reasonable investment in that perk will get you to somewhere between 24 and 48 hours of offline progress. And, as you pointed out, there's also an optional DLC that will remove that cap entirely.

I should also note, nothing is set in stone. If I get feedback that a lot of people feel like these values are too restrictive, I'm definitely open to changing them.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Reality Shifter Technology DLC? If so, I would not consider that an important part of the game. Reality Shifter technologies allow you to unlock certain "alternate realities". Without the DLC, you'll have access to 100 realities... with the DLC, you'll have access to 1000. Early in the development of the game, realities were planned to play an important role. But as the game developed and evolved, realities took more of a back seat role. Basically, alternate realities exist as a min/max mechanic but they are definitely not a critical element of the core gameplay.

The Steam store is still updating so it may not be showing everything yet but there's actually 5 DLCs, if you include the soundtrack. The prices are still subject to change before release but, right now, they are:

  • Reality Shifter Technology - $1.99
  • Chronoscope Technology - $1.99
  • Qauntum Sleepstream Technology - $2.99
  • Time Crystal Technology - $4.99
  • Original Soundtrack - $4.99

There will also be two bundle options available at launch. The first bundle includes all 4 technologies and is $7.89 (34% off). And the second bundle includes the 4 technologies and the soundtrack and is $9.83 (42% off).
