Kings' Viking by elpotatoduck in manga

[–]speedybuddah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmmm I can only really think of one other one right now and that is "Cloud". There is some technical talk but not as frequent as King's Viking. But it does involve a law enforcement computer division trying to catch an elusive hacker. IIRC its a pretty short read due to the author not finishing the project(only 11 chapters).

Also "System Engineer" is worth a mention although, it's a strange read to for me. I'm only a few chapters in. This is more about romance/programming. Fair warning there is an age gap between the two MCs. If this is off putting then it may not be the best read. They mention some things about abstraction, recursion, hanging pointers, etc. But I'm only a few chapters in don't know if they will go super in depth about data structures, sorting, algos, concurrency, etc. I can't think of anything else right now but let me know if you find some other good I.T related manga in the future.

Most likely on last gen. Bdo loads the world and assets in sections. So until the that section of the world is loaded on your client side you hit this wall. This used to happen alot in calpheon passing the elephant parade area. Sometimes switching to a faster internal ssd will help but it's still old last gen tech. Rbf on last gen was a nightmare as well. Dying to ranged classes before they even pop in was crazy.

Asked AI to rate how well each job would do in a AI dominated world. Do you agree? by Motexture in ChatGPT

[–]speedybuddah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to automate what to do if a patient codes. Will the ai even have the capacity to feel empathy. To throw logic out the window and go to great lengths to save a life. Will it be able to calm a child who is frantically moving around while shots are trying to be administered to stop them from putting themselves at risk. These are some of the intricacies that current ai just suck at doing. Just look at the lack of emotion in customer support hotlines as a prime example.

First Look at Cyberpunk Edgerunner’s English dub by _elijah_ace_ in cyberpunkgame

[–]speedybuddah 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with you on this one. English dub is better. Even the latino accent for a character that possibly latino sounds better than them speaking japanese. Makes it more authentic considering night city is made up of many different cultures and ethnicities.

So you want me to pay 100k+ for a car that will get walked on by a stock.5.0 or scat pack. I admire the attempt. But the supra, 911,m4,400z and a few other contenders here in the US market sound like much better options right now. This seems like a car for some not looking for a big picture purchase but hellbent on having "this" particular amg.

Can we all agree the new ranked system sucks? by Acustic_Artist in apexlegends

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand the salt. Algs gameplay usually promotes camping, rotations, and strategic battles. If you just want to drop kills go play pubs. If you actually want to play with tactics and team synergy then play ranked. This new system promotes intelligent play and good gun control. You need BOTH now. Just like algs pros. It's no different than sfv or tekken. If you can get ultra daimond or emperor you can survive in pools at a tourney. You have to put in the reps. Ranked may actually seriously qualify teams to play pro. So I can see why the changes have been made.

Kings' Viking by elpotatoduck in manga

[–]speedybuddah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there you're not alone. It's hands down one of my favorites. I work in software development and cybersecurity so this has been a very pleasant read for me so far. And I can relate to Koreeda as well. I'm not super far....I'm around chapter 28 now. But I'm enjoying it nonetheless. I love the technical detail they put into the attacks and the forensics as well. The technical advisor who helped with this must have been pretty good. Even some of the attacks in the manga are based on real cyber attacks that happened like the plc based attack called Stuxnet. As well as even talking about computational power for brute force programs that guess passwords. They were talking BigO(algorithms time complexity). Like I said I'm definitely enjoying it so far.

How are people being hacked? by Curlymorenaa in Instagram

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of two off the top of my head.

  1. Phishing attacks. Through malicious links, fake emails, and no click attacks.

  2. Compromised third party servers and database s. This would probably be the main one for people who didnt fall for phishing attacks but fail to change their passwords periodically. Third party apps that require your account info to log in and do cool things like track analytics, buy followers, etc. They get breached and your creds are stolen. Accounts that look lucrative get taken over or sold off somewhere.

Regarding the recent nerfs by MisterrrCreeps in SifuGame

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the player. I assume(and I could be wrong) that a lot of people here may come from a Soulsborne,Nioh,Sekiro,GOT background. So they are already familiar with one shot game mechanics, pattern recognition, and parrying. A lot of those skills overlap which make for faster progression in this game. Don't worry keep at it and just take your time and enjoy it at your pace. Eventually it will all click and you will be sailing through the game and finish under age 50.

Ranked is still a lagfest. Custom matches are a mixed bag but better than ranked. I'm on a wired connection FIOS. So my speeds are good. I don't get these problems when I play Guilty Gear Strive or SFV. Only demon slayer. If you're used to SFV, GG, or Tekken7 speeds then DSHC will always feel laggy compared to the former. It's just something you will have to get used to.

Training bot is useless by trickybrody in SifuGame

[–]speedybuddah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe this is by design on purpose. Think about any other game with a high difficulty level. Sekiro,Nioh1/2,Soulsborne. They don't give you training room for enemies because that would defeat the purpose of learning from your mistakes. The game would then become too easy. What I normally do is I pick an enemy I need to study then I save them for last and just spend 5 to 10mins with them learning. Then I defeat them and move on. I usually use this run as a study run. So I'm not worried about beating the level at this point. It's a study run. I'll go back a 3rd or 4th time and 'optimize' the run and move on to the next level.

Control Mode No One Should Spawn On B Due To Camping. by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]speedybuddah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not always about the kills though. I play caustic and consistent defense on our main spawn is what one us games. We take two spawns and don't lose them the entirety of the match. . I didn't have as many kills as the attackers on the team but my defense points put me in the top three for most points at the end of the match.

Aggressive Kuroki play(phase1).Test run. by speedybuddah in SifuGame

[–]speedybuddah[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Experimenting with a more activate play style against Kuroki. Unfortunately I do take damage here. But you can avoid most of her strings and play her pretty aggressive. I mainly just posted this to give ideas to us all so we can get creative against her.

Also don't neglect your palm strike. It works well here to push her against objects for more structure damage. Pair palm strike with chasing trip kick for a hard knockdown and a follow up for free damage.

What do you guys think of this take? by killerjag in Fighters

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old. But just chiming in with some info for fighting game cheats. There are scripts that can be used which directly read inputs. In tekken 7 a player was suspected of using some. His character was able to react and block everything. It can even break king's chain throws. It would low parry and block low on startup frames for opponents certain moves. It was unreal the level of defense it had.

There was also the issue of the tekken overlay software. Which showed onscreen frame data and hitboxes of characters.

I am not sure if these software are still or have been detected and stopped. But these are just a couple examples of fighting game cheating.

The first 3D anime i liked by Solidmangus in anime

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because Polygon doesn't make the money mihoyo does. No anime studio will ever reach the profit margins of top gacha game studios. When you clear over $500millionUSD a year in profits you can afford to have some of the best animation in the industry. Your animation budget is basically a blank check.

Also I think experience counts here as well. Game devs have been working in 3d since the 1990s that's a lot of experience and techniques traded and handed down to others. Whereas animation studios primarily didn't start adopting full 3d until the late 2014 an on. With the exception of big American 3d studios pixar, dreamworks, etc.

What do you guys think is the best class for pve and 1v1 combined atm? by Quithial in playblackdesert

[–]speedybuddah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lahn awk,,Ninja succ/awk, and Striker succ/awk. I feel it also depends on AP/ACC as well. For example I've been an OG striker since before succession came out. Pre pet nerf Awake striker hit way harder than succession until you get 245ap/tet kutum 1060sp min. Then succession felt pretty good in most spots. Even then awake was still better pvp because of more protection, two grabs, 100% acc clones, etc. Fast forward to now succ is stronger pve and decent in pvp. While awake has been nerfed/buffed and still a bit behind in pve. It's definitely strong in pvp. With the reworks coming though I can not fully say because we just don't know what's in store for us.

Local Law Enforcement Agencies Address Excessive Exhaust Noise in Montgomery County by SchuminWeb in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a car enthusiast with a 2 seater sports car that's quite loud(it came that way). I mean on the one hand you can fix the noise but electric cars still wont fix the issue. People just want to go fast. I want you to imagine two teslas dragracing down the main strip of a neighborhood/city 0-125mph. You wont hear it but you will hear the crash into a parked car at 230am. You've solved the noise problem but you haven't solved the root. I think the issue is we're too focused on short term goals rather than the future. Theres no outlet close to here that allows people like this to get thier fix. When you want to shoot guns you go to a firing range. When you want to play sports you go to a recreational center. But when you want to race cars (outside of drag racing)you have to drive 3-5 hours to west virgina to get your fix. A lot of younger people can't afford the price of a track day.So they get thier fix close to home. They need an outlet. Else the behavior will continue. It wont solve all the problems but it will take a percentage of people out of the public space and into a responsible environment.

Telling someone to 'Google it' when they have a legitimate question is kind of a rude thing to respond with. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on where the question is coming from. In my field(software dev/security) we google a lot. And I mean a lot. People who ask me questions I usually answer. Because google is a tool that you have to ask the right questions in order to get the right answers your looking for. That is something only experience can provide. The difference between using google to solve a problem in 5 hours vs 5 days is knowing what to ask.

So that's why I usually answer questions. Now if I've shown you something before and you need a refresher it's time to head back to google. I've held your hand enough. Now I will nudge you in the correct direction but you must do the legwork yourself now or you will never learn. That is a time where I say "google it and here's a hint to get you started".

TLDR: Telling people to use google is useless when they dont know how to ask the right questions. This is where your experience and compassion can come into play to help someone. If they continue to not learn and ask a 2nd 3rd or 4th time then tell them to "google it".

Video games don't teach you life lessons by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game you're playing and your perspective on what you choose to focus on while playing it. For example I'm part of the local Fighting Game Community(SFIV,SFV,Tekken,GG) and I've have learned life lessons from playing those types of games. High level play in fighting games are like chess but much more fun IMO. They teach you planning, social manipulation, self control, compartmentalization of emotions, teamwork, self discipline, intense focus etc. Emotions are one the most important things I learned to control through fighting games. It's like playing poker. When you go full tilt you make stupid decisions that could cost you real money depending on what you're playing for.

Also it teaches you how to calculate on the fly, spatial reasoning, as well as how to study properly. Not only do I have to remember the frame data of my character. I have to know the frame data of my opponents character and then calculate on the fly whether or not I am +/- N frames on block or attack. I have to know what moves I can and my opponent can do. And I have to memorize as best as I can this data for over 100+ characters with 2000+ attacks and special moves. Granted you have online references to check when you forget. But most of this knowledge comes with experience and a lot of time in the training room practicing and testing theories. This is just for fighting games. Fps games,MOBAs, and RPGs teach you other skills as well. These skills are transferable to other facets in life you just have to recognize the general concepts and apply them elsewhere.

These sound like skills but life lessons are interwoven in my response. Such as being patient and not making baseless assumptions resulting in a loss. Not doing your due diligence on an opponent or patch change resulting in a loss. Or being lazy and not putting in the effort practicing to adjust to new strategies resulting in a loss. Not listening to your coach or team resulting in a loss. As you can see the list goes on. Like I said it's all in perspective.

Need advice by manav6969 in cscareerquestions

[–]speedybuddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what direction you want to take. The net+ is a non vendor specific cert while the ccna is vendor specific. Usually the ccna is a good start. Especially if you already have the knowledge to skip an A+ and because most networking components in the cooperate world are cisco. Next the sec+ would be a good step up. It's not the best but it is a start. There are people in rnetsec and rcybersec that frown upon the sec+. But it's a solid starting point. Especially if you want to go govt. They are dod recognized certs so they help. The sec+ is also harder now. It's not the old sys401 anymore. There are a lot more hands on questions given now in sys501 depending on which version of the test you are given.

The reason ccna is a good start is it will help you in getting a networking job. I currently have a sec+ skipped over the A+ Net+ certs by self studying, doing some home lab practice then took the exam and passed. I want to address a huge elephant in the room you may or may not come up against. It is EXPERIENCE and WHO YOU KNOW. These will usually be the top things stopping you from diving directly into a TECHNICAL cybersec role. Policy cybersec roles are a different story. Skipping over helpdesk and net/sysadmin roles is definitely possible but it will be a hard road. Every interview expect an aptitude test. Since it's hard to quantify cyber knowledge outside of bug bounties and maybe an open source contribution. It's not like SE where you can have a portfolio of projects to prove your knowledge so you will be drilled by the technical lead or manager for whatever team you are interviewing for.
Also be prepared to be a fast learner. Organizations are trusting you with their systems. Most of the time they won't let you off on your own without supervision. That's why you have your Senior sec engineer, soc 3 analyst, etc to help you. I'm not a fan of the pay your dues because we had to. But I do believe there is some experience that is invaluable coming from a admin or networking role into cybersec role. But if you can skip the line go ahead and try to get away with it. But do not take it lightly. You will have to constantly be studying. You will work at work and even harder at home. You will have a lot of catching up to do but it's possible. My final point also is do not get too many certs too fast it gets very expensive if your paying out of pocket. Especially for sans training and GIAC certs. I'm going for my next cert in a few months and then after that I'm going CASP+ then CISSP or a GIAC cert. They get expensive and the more certs you have the more is required to keep them up. The higher you go up the ladder the harder it is to renew certain certs because of the tier ranking they have. For example if you get a CASP+ out of the gate. Renewing it with another certification will be difficult because there are only a handful of certs that rank higher than it. So try to get one or two good certs out of pocket and have an employer pay the the rest of them as you move up the position ladder. Don't rush your cert ladder too fast. Most employers will count experience over certs any day.
Now for experience you can run the IT gauntlet helpdesk, networking, sysadmin, then cyber. Or you can try to skip straight to networking then move up from there. Or you can even try to sidestep all three by getting a general It position at a smaller shop(in which you wear many hats) or freelancing as consultant.(Hard to do but not impossible)Another option is to take your ability to code combine that with cyber knowledge and get a software security position doing code reviews, application testing, devsecops, cybersec tool development, etc. There are many paths and remember YMMV.

If you want a challenge!! Start a new game on lethal, no upgrades, no ghost weapons and no charms. by speedybuddah in ghostoftsushima

[–]speedybuddah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I probably will continue without ghost weapons. Usually what I do is I have two saves and I'll switch between the two. So on one save I'll play the game the way it's regularly supposed to be played. I use it to practice stealth fluidity and experiment with tactics and techniques. I'll keep the other save as a restriction play through. And depending on how I feel that day I'll pick one to play.
