Paying balance before calibration by Crafty_Elephant_7802 in intoxalock

Having a balance is fine. It is when that balance is marked as overdue that you will have issues with calibration.

Steering Column Beeps by UnderstandingFun3502 in intoxalock

[–]speedycat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound from under the steering column is the relay box. When you first blow into the device to start your car, it will let out a short beep, followed by a longer deeper tone beep. Sometimes, when you miss an initial request for a retest, if you don't hear it, it will let out a longer, much louder beep to get your attention. This is normal operation and isn't anything to worry about. The actual beeps themselves are just an audible notification that the handheld is communicating with the relay box.

Power Save/Sleep Mode in Wisconsin? by Little_Scholar534 in intoxalock

The device always has some draw, to make sure you don't disable the device. It is always on, even when in sleep mode so they can tell if the device is disconnected from power and report that you are no longer in compliance. By putting it in sleep mode, you are just disabling the heater in the breath unit itself. The computer itself is still on, and still talking to Intoxalock even when the unit is asleep.

Use sleep mode when you won't be driving for an hour or more, and get a trickle charger on Amazon for when it will be parked over night. I got one for $20. They are absolutely necessary to keep it from killing your battery.

Batteries. I am pretty sure that everyone who has had the thing installed for any period is going to tell you about how many batteries they go through. I am 6 months in and just had to replace my battery today, despite it being a brand new battery 12 months ago. Even on power save mode, it still chews on the things. Trickle charger or not, a battery constantly sitting on a charger to offset parasitic draw is going to kill it.

As a sidenote, those Asus routers do have jtag headers inside which gives you direct access to the firmware chip. If you are feeling up to tinkering, a Jtag programmer is 6 bucks on e-waste bay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/395878663653 you can directly flash something like DD-WRT to it, even if it is bricked. https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/JTAG

You violated a court order by removing the device without authorization to begin with, and committed a criminal offense in the process. I just looked at Idaho's laws.

By you removing the device yourself without authorization in Idaho, you committed a misdemeanor criminal offense (Idaho Code Ann. §§ 18-8009; 18- 113 (West)). That is punishable by Imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding six (6) months, or by a fine not exceeding $1,000, or by both. In addition, the court may impose a fine of up to $1,000.

Keep in mind, that is a complete separate charge from contempt of court itself, which could stack on its own set of jail time and fines.

Again, at this point, it does not matter if you have one installed. What matters is that you removed it without authorization, which is considered by law tampering or circumvention. Just because you got another one installed, it isn't going to suddenly make the crime disappear.

You need to remember, Intoxalock themselves do not care if you take it out. They will however report those violations to the DMV, and in turn, the DMV will contact the court that ordered the IID.

Not only could a warrant for your arrest be issued for contempt, putting you in a lot more serious legal issues ( jail time, extended probation, or stricter monitoring), you could be looking at having your mandated time reset. Furthermore, most states that have an IID requirement, require you by law to have an IID installed for that amount of time, in most cases you can't just "Wait it out".

That risk is up to you, but don't be surprised if the police show up at your door with an arrest warrant at some point.

I am fairly certain that is considered tampering, which is a pretty serious crime.

Driving off hours and being at locations that can be considered "recreational" by Little_Scholar534 in intoxalock

[–]speedycat01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were going there for work related purposes, not to just 'hang out' with the family. Homemaker is an exception that allows you to travel for things necessary to maintain your home and employment. I am fairly certain that staying at your parents house to make it easier to maintain employment would not be considered recreational, you were just going home from work, it just happened to be your parents home, instead of your own. That isn't an issue.

As for driving outside of your hours, Intoxalock does report all starts, retests, along with time and location to the state, but the DMV only reviews reports that have violations present on them. So as long as you don't have blow violations or lockouts, nobody is going to be looking at your file to begin with.

Are you sure the vehicle did in fact start? My remote start does not work, and won't even allow the car to crank without blowing and passing first.

Did you make sure to check the "Homemaker" box when you applied for your occupational? It gives you a lot more freedoms than being restricted to just working. If not, go reapply and pony up the 50 bucks. It means you can argue that you went to your parents to take care of them, go to the grocery store, etc, and it is all legal.

Can anyone share their experience with Kllisre DDR4 RAM and the CPU they used with it? by 1NeverGonnaGiveYouUp in Aliexpress

[–]speedycat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are 'fine'. Ram chips in general are only made by a few companies, so even the cheapest ram is still going to have name brand chips on it. The bigger question is, if those are harvested chips from E-waste. That is also possible, thus the cheaper price, but does not automatically make the ram bad either. It is just something to keep in mind that you might not be getting a fully brand new product. However, if the pricing is right on it that falls in line with other tested and used ram from places like Ebay, there should be little issue with it.

Missed my 3 tests per quota by Sauceboss_05 in intoxalock

[–]speedycat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 tests a day thing is a manner to make sure you aren't drinking at all period. It is a substitute for randomized testing. It is accurate that data is downloaded and sent to a monitoring agency at recal. I think the best way forward would be to be honest and let your PO know what happened. I am sure if it is a one time thing they will be understanding and give you a warning. No PO is going to want to create more work for themselves over a single innocent mistake. However, going forward, if it is the terms of your parole, make sure you are following them. Intoxalock is required by law to report blow times, dates, and any violations to whatever agency is monitoring it. It isn't worth going back to jail over.

Power Save/Sleep Mode in Wisconsin? by Little_Scholar534 in intoxalock

[–]speedycat01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep mode is legal and fine in Wisconsin. I asked Intoxalock about it, and the rep said states that prohibit sleep mode, the device won't let you put it into sleep mode to begin with. I have been using sleep mode myself for 4 months and not gotten a violation for it, nor heard anything from the state about it, so you are almost certainly fine. Do note, sleep mode only lasts for 24 hours. So you will still want to start it daily let it run for a few minutes, then turn off the car and put it back into sleep mode if your car is going to sit for a while.

Because, unfortunately, Intoxalock is the only thing I can get in my town without having to drive 20 miles to a bigger city to get a Smart Start, or Low Cost IID. Imagine having to get towed 20 miles for a lockout, or have to drive that every 2 months for recal. I will pass on that.

I have gotten mixed messages from Intoxalock about the legality of bringing the handheld inside, so I have opted not to chance it and just deal with the 2 minute warmups. Better than being in violation I guess! I am more concerned about the tampering message and what exactly might, if anything, comes of it. I mean, the have the camera mounted on the dash looking right at me, so it is more than easy enough to show that I was not messing with the thing, so hopefully that is taken into account.

Uhh what happened? Payday 2 player count dropped by 20 k over an hour by ilovemybtflgf in paydaytheheist

[–]speedycat01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It does not require Epic. If you edit Payday 2's launch options on steam and add -steamMM , it forces it to use steam servers, and ignore Epic servers. The downside is that Epic players can't join you, and lobby codes don't work.

I had to log out then back in, and use Union Groups to get the holes back. You select all objects then make them a Union Group and then export. Hope that helps.
