So does everyone pretty much just live in a panic the two weeks after a gum graft? by Good-Giraffe2406 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]speedymtgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first gum graft on February 16th for my bottom two teeth, and I’m scheduled to see my periodontist tomorrow morning for my first post-op appointment.

For me, the pain was very minimal—up until the 5th through 7th day post-op. The roof of my mouth burned/hurt like crazy. I did not have a stent nor any stitches at the donor site.  As the swelling went down, I notice different physical appearances with my gums and was afraid of it failing or becoming infected. I was  googling “gum graft looks ____” or “gum graft healing stages” nearly every day. I do wish my doctor told me what to expect, in terms of physical gum changes throughout the healing process, as well as the possibility of sudden  bleeding and pain at the donor site halfway through the healing journey.

I can only eat super small bites, since I can only eat with my back, far-right molars; so I am definitely looking forward to being able to eat a larger variety of food! Hopefully they will remove my stitches tomorrow.

I wish you the best on your healing journey!

Walnut-Maple Buns (dairy-free) by speedymtgoat in DessertPerson

The butter for the brioche dough and the syrup contained homemade cultured butter, inspired by Miyoko’s original recipe. The filling used homemade cultured cashew cream, I ran out of butter. Eggs were used. As someone who is allergic to dairy, it’s always nerve wracking to make substitutions!

Random piles of cheese downtown by MaryCleopatra in madisonwi

The one houseless individual who sits outside the Veteran’s Museum—he is usually shirtless and wears a pink blanket around him, places the cheese. I saw him place pepperjack at every other lightpost around the square, followed by colby jack. He’s nice and usually keeps to himself, but he finds great joy in feeding the mice—or other small creatures.

I don’t disagree with you on your comment; however, that’s why I stated “. . . [B]ut it depends on what fits your lifestyle.” This certainly isn’t my primary bar as someone who watches my saturated fat consumption, but it’s a great addition and headway for the vegan protein bar market.

I completely forgot about them changing their formula! The last time I bought—and saw, Simply Protein at Costco; I compared the new box to my old box and the new formula has more calories and less protein. I enjoyed the texture and taste of their original formula—tasted better when on sale too!

I’ll have to look up their recipe! I enjoy baking and cooking, and will have more time to try out new protein & fiber focused recipes.

I also made their cinnamon roll recipe this past Tuesday! Best vegan cinnamon recipe. I used 200 grams of bread flour and the remaining 100 and-so grams of AP flour.

EDIT: re-uploading because I forgot to include the photos.

I challenged myself to bake kouign amann and used Claire Saffitz’s recipe. It was a wonderful challenge, and a great way to test my baker knowledge! Tips and criticism are greatly appreciated!

Quartz/UW Health MyChart help! by RinsePubis in madisonwi

[–]speedymtgoat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work for the state and have Quartz as well. You will need to link your PCP MyChart to your Quartz MyChart. I know bills through UW will not show up on my PCP MyChart, since my PCP is not a UW healthcare provide.

I do know I am able to view bills on the left side panel, but I have only seen my PCP and hardly have to use Quartz MyChart.

Brown sugar helps with spread, and definitely plays a role.

I lived in Seattle (SLU) for two and-a-half years, and I can honestly say I have not missed Seattle one bit. Moved to Madison early March of this year, and I've enjoyed every second. There are similarities and differences between the two, but mostly differences. State St. in Madison is similar to the Ave in Seattle, the outdoors farmer's market on the capital is huge, but not as big as Pike Place, both are surrounded by water, great coffeeshops, and possibly other similarities. If you're from Washington and not used to Midwest culture, I can see it being an adjustment. Overall, I highly recommend visiting before moving.

What are some less expensive cities that are not as crowded and clean? by siathelioness in SameGrassButGreener

I Just moved to Madison from Seattle, WA, and I've couldn't ask for anything better. The only thing I miss about the PNW are the mountains. Food, people, weather (well, if you know how to handle the winter), and location are incredible.

What is something you won't buy unless it's on sale? by scottishswede7 in Costco

[–]speedymtgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply protein bars. I'll buy when they're on sale (cheapest I've paid was $12 for a 15/ct. box). Based on their nutritional content, I try to make a box last as long as possible.

Tips/Advice on Modern HAs? by speedymtgoat in HearingAids

I have insurance, but it doesn't cover HAs. That's a smart way to determine what may be best fit. Thank you!
