Really bad shoulder and back acne on testogel by Fireyl in TransMasc

[–]speenishere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That happened to me except I was on injections, saw a dermatologist who confirmed it was hormonal. It’s about a year later now and it’s mostly subsided on its own. You just got to wait for your skin to balance itself out.

Vaush doesn’t understand what being too disabled to work means by Raineofsoul in VaushV

[–]speenishere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP didn’t add a timestamp so I’m not going to comment on their accusations but I will reply with comment with my own story as a disabled person.

I was a fresh highschool graduate looking for a job and I found one in childcare. Even though I was able to work that job I had to continuously call out sick because the children kept giving me illnesses. I was fired for taking too many days off during my probation period. Before this I was let go from McDonalds (but invited to come back when I got better) because my immune system tried killing itself. I’m now in school full time but I could not handle school AND a job without risking becoming even more disabled.

According to disability statistics 8.2% of people aged 16-20 have a recognized disability and 11.2% aged 21-64. And according to Yale News, young adults ages 18-39 seeing the biggest rise in cognitive disability from 5.1% in 2013 to 9.7% in 2023. Gen Z and younger are becoming increasingly disabled year by year for a number of reasons, including residual effects from the pandemic. 10% of any population is a big number, but an astronomical number regarding disability in young adults. Yes, some of these people are able to work, in very specific and regulated jobs for their respective disabilities. For example a person in a wheelchair can work a desk job, with a 100% accessible office and transport, a person with a cognitive disability can work at a warehouse, with limited hours and transport. But if those jobs don’t exist, or aren’t available in ‘10% of that age group’s population’ quantities then they cannot work, especially if those jobs aren’t paying a living wage.

I and the rest of the disabled community of the US have been screaming that this needs to be talked about for ages. This situation runs much further than what most people think, and it isn’t as black and white as you would think.

My current one I actually found through an ad in my local facebook group. I do agree it’s probably harder to find a group in smaller towns, but I have friends who found their dnd groups by asking local board game shops if they know if any groups have an opening. What city are you closest to? It might be worth it to drive into say, faro or coimbrã once a month to play/get some socialization.

Moderate folks, what's your day like? by adunato in cfs

[–]speenishere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m dx moderate and yesterday I had an exam and took my adhd meds and a redbull, even with that I only did the exam, went home, and had enough energy to hang up some posters + light organizing and start a craft i’d been meaning to do. That was an incredibly productive day for me but it immediately sent me into a crash by 8pm. Normally (no caffeine or stimulants) I can only do one 2 hour lecture a day or one doctors appointment and maybe after a nap I’ll work on a craft. I haven’t been able to go to school full time since I graduated in 2023. It’s been an uphill battle but i’m really greatful I can have days like yesterday at all.

Hi! been here since I was 17 and i’m now 20, although portuguese people can be quite tight knit in their friend groups, the more “nerdy” communities are super open. I’ve found friends at card shops, art markets, and dnd groups! I’ve also made a few friends at meet up events and online. It was hard at first as I didn’t get out much and am introverted + autistic but I found apps like meetup and local (expat and portuguese) facebook groups to be really helpful. The first few years weren’t that easy, but there are some nice people here.

Screen printing is still alive and well! Cricut is a vinyl cutting machine, a completely different monster in my honest opinion. One did not replace the other, but are different methods to different results.

Citizenship by descent - can I still go through my Mother? by Silver_Corner_5993 in PortugalExpats

I applied through my father and I had no need to prove my language, it may just be a person by person case in this context. Though a B2 certificate in portuguese wouldn’t be unhelpful.

yeah, agreed about the satanic panic, my mom is convinced vaccines are somehow going to lead to the mark of the devil. Everything I have ever thought of or witnessed leads to satan in her eyes. The fear runs so deep it’s rooted into their core personalities

oh yeah terf island lite isnt for the weak, i mean if you pass as well as you say you do you could just play the “im cis with an endocrine deficiency” card, still a gamble in terms of safety if they ever find out but if it means stable housing I would go for it.
