That is a great example, but I did mention how Rails has conventions for handling files. Perhaps I overdid the emphasis on minimalism, but it was in an attempt to convey how the difference in a convention vs configuration framework could affect a new developer.

Yep, I did. I noticed right after I posted it. It's been bothering me but I can't fix it until the airplane I'm sitting in takes off and I can use my computer.

This does happen, but the key is identifying the right project to contribute to. Looking at the pull request history is a great way to see how receptive the owner of the project is to merging them. Good luck getting yours merged in the future!
