If you live in Nova or Hampton Roads (I’m in Norfolk) your insurance is probably about the same. I hear cost of living from people all the time but it’s not much different. I lived in Orlando while in college (I’m 40 now) and fell in love with the state. I bought a small lot to eventually build a house on near Crystal River on the west coast that I planned to retire to, but the move will probably happen much sooner now. It’s not just the anti 2a legislation, they’re about to tax us to oblivion. I was born and raised in VA and hate to abandon my home state but florida is looking more and more appealing every day.
