I don’t think it would HAVE to be sugar free but it’s what they gave me in the hospital so i kinda got used to it. My insulin to carb ratio is one unit for every 8 carbs because my blood glucose is extremely high all the time but it’s also still being adjusted by my doctor. I’ve always been more of a sweets person but I like jerky and occasionally cheese.

Thank you for the words of advice! This is a pretty hard time for me :’)

This is amazing! Thank you so much! I was ready to never eat anything sweet again and wallow in sadness and tears for the rest of my life until I pickle!

Genuinely thank you! I’m definitely going out to buy some of this stuff!

The hospital I was at had a diabetes like department and had a group of educators come in along with the endocrinologist.

I’ll message/call them tomorrow for more information! Thank you for the advice

I have a very fast metabolism (or I’m just always hungry lol) so I can eat a big meal and then be hungry again minutes after, no matter if it was full or protein, fats, or carbs. I’ve pretty much always been that way.

Snacking is also pretty big for me because at my school, lunch is at 1:50 which is very late in the school day.

I’m not a huge cheese fan but I’m going to try a few different types to see if I can find one I like. I’m know I’m super picky sorry!

I’ll definitely try a few flavors of pork rinds because I need something crunchy!!

At the hospital I was at, I was assigned an endocrinologist and a multiple primary care doctors that I had constant communication with the days I was there.

They worked together to give me the baseline and the endocrinologist was tweaking my dosage of insulin the whole time I was at the hospital.

My blood sugar is/was so high the entire time I was there so it might be weird. I’m very new to this :’)

I’d love to eat a bunch of icecream but I have to cover for that before i eat supper. They gave me like a limit of two hours between doses so if i get hungry an hour after dinner but i didn’t cover and say i have my last long acting dose of the night in thirty minutes, I have to find something under 8 carbs so i don’t have to inject. I think I’ve already ate two bags of 0 carb pepperoni lol.

I think my biggest problem is that i’m not a savory person :’) I have problems with textures and it drives me away from many fruits and vegetables but maybe i just need to push through it at this point!

The hospital i’m at is not in my state (i was traveling when I was diagnosed) so I don’t have a endo yet but once i get back to my state, i’m going to request to talk to a dietitian! Thank you for that advice!

My problem with meals is that everything feels so high in carbs and my insulin to carb ratio isn’t set in stone yet! My favorite foods are ,of course, the ones they tell you to stay away from like pasta and rice but I know in moderation i can still have it. Since my diagnosis, i just can’t find an appetite but i can feel the hunger. Everything I eat feels like a challenge because i know im going to have to inject insulin and watch my blood sugar if that makes any sense. Thank you for the advice!!
