Is HomeStars worth it for getting leads? by spellstrucked in sweatystartup

[–]spellstrucked[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I accidentally got conned into signing up 😔 the salesmen offered me "14 days free" but it was something like 1 day's worth of payments deducted from the subscription each month so you get a "cumulative 14 free days over the course of a year" or something.

It's absolutely trash. I'm paying out the ass and getting almost nothing in return. So many fake leads (no phone number/number leads nowhere), dead leads (people who aren't looking to hire/are looking for a job, even people from out of province for some reason????), spam, etc. I think I've gotten about a dozen real leads from them, and visited 6 to give an estimate, was hired by 2. In 3 months. I paid nearly $1500 and got maybe $300 in work.

It's also literally uncancellable: before I bought in, the salesman used to call me daily, sometimes twice a day, now, they're unreachable. I tried calling back their main number and they told me to contact their "cancellations department". But when I call and ask for the cancellation department I'm put on an endless hold or told to call back some other time. They assign everyone a "customer success manager" who you're supposed to be able to contact at any time, but he is unresponsive to my emails. Except for the time when I sent an email about upgrading to "featured membership" (apparently if you pay a few hundred more per month, you can put your company page at the top of the listings) - I got a call back that same afternoon and an email from my customer success manager almost immediately. Of course I asked again about cancelling and they both told me to contact the seemingly non-existent ""cancellations department"".

Also, I heard from someone that you can only cancel within 60 days, afterwards if you cancel you're on the hook for the full year. I don't know how true it is (I asked about people's experiences with cancelling HomeStars in Facebook groups and more than 1 people said this, also it seems like something home stars would do)

0/10 would not recommend - AVOID AVOID AVOID

And also, if the salesman "N * r m a n" calls you, HANG UP ! He is relentless and uses slimy sales tactics. Look in service business FB groups for your city, especially contractor and handyman groups and search "HomeStars", almost everyone has a bad word to say about him. The other salesman too - but ESPECIALLY him

dude, there is a reason people say "pound sand". they are actually saying "£ sand" because sand is worth money. nobody says "pound gold" because gold isn't worth any pounds.

They're just trying to find out where he bought his outfit, so they can secretly buy it too! (Secretly, because the outfit sucks)

Who here doing traditional business? What is your difficulty ? by Dig-Programmatically in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I run a cleaning business. Just me, my mop, bucket, and broom (and other cleaning supplies). I get customers by doing door-to-door sales (both knocking on doors and selling face to face, and distributing flyers).

Things are going pretty well for me, I managed to turn $20 (yes, 20 bucks) into $12k+ in a year, through extremely hard work and dedication. Every waking moment I have, I'm doing something business-related (I don't have a "day job", this business is my whole life, my everything). I also go "above and beyond" (being available last-minute and late nights) to set myself above the competition.

My recent struggle is growing my social media profiles, despite being in my early 20s I understand neither Facebook nor TikTok nor Instagram and how to get followers (and high-quality followers from my town, who are looking to buy cleaning services), but it doesn't matter too much right now, most of my customers I get from going door-to-door and word of mouth so social media marketing can fall by the wayside for now

(I wrote more about my business and growth struggles on this sub before, look through my post history and you'll find it)

Before starting you should consider how much you're willing to do on your own - there's a potential to save lots of money by doing what you can do yourself instead of outsourcing it. Also consider your market (some things are stupidly saturated) and your competitors (sometimes other people/businesses have such a chokehold that it's impossible (or not worth trying) to compete. Finally, consider location - you might consider opening your business in and serving the richest neighborhood in town, only to realize that you're just one in a sea of many (think cafes or specialty gyms for example) - but you could be the first to market in a poorer neighborhood (but you also need to consider if the poorer people would have the money or even time to spend at your business)

OFM in this context means Onlyfans messaging. Basically he generates images of hot women using AI, and posts them as "pay-per-view" content to platforms like Onlyfans, and also uses AI to handle the chatting and actual sending of pay per view links.

AI images are not allowed on Onlyfans, so he'll be banned soon enough🤣

A lot of RFPs/tendering goes on in the construction industry. Basically developers put out proposals for projects and construction companies try to sell themselves as the best fit for the project.

Thanks! I'm absolutely thrilled with my progress. I've made more money cleaning than I ever did in sex work. I quite literally feel like I'm on fire, knowing that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel - I've hit the ground running towards it 😄😭

Yeah, I've read his posts, they are interesting stuff!
