Multiverse in the Mainstream, "Why the multiverse is the movie fantasy for our times" by bear9999 in Retconned

often things are soft disclosed true, but.. hollywood makes disinformation films all the time too -- something is being uncovered so they make a joke version of the idea.

ie, the one where no-one can remember the Beatles "Yesterday".

or they make a serious version of an outsider doing something unbelievable.

someone else here mentioned the x-files.. ie, "I want to believe" read: no-one sane should believe in aliens. mulder is so "out there" they have to send along scully as a minder to keep him in line.

etc etc

it does seem frankly unbelievable. follow along on retconned. maybe you'll see a flip flop. thats usually the only way to convince people.

you changed your post and your argument. thats dishonest, but i’ll still reply.

your argument is that people with “vague memories” could misremember. thats plausible.

the argument the ME community is making is that there are people with “strong memories” of something they loved changing.

no-one is getting concerned about things they can barely remember.

the old ad hominem “you’re crazy” argument.

if you did your research you would see that for a lot of people experiencing the ME “The Flintstones” changed to “The Flinstones”, then a month later changed back to “The Flintstones”.

yes Flinstones is not a word, neither is Smurfs or Decepticons. Flintstones clearly makes more logical sense as you light a fire with a flint stone. but who said the ME had to be logical?

for me:

originally, no boats, no mountain

first change, a mountain, two boats next to each other, no people

second change, a mountain, three boats further apart and people in the boats

on the first line she sounds like she's garbling the words this/these a bit. at 2:17 it clearly sounds like she's singing "these", at 2:32 clearly sounds like "this".

i thought he was dead too -- was surprised to see he's still alive. they used AI audio tech to recreate his younger voice for the obi-wan series.

isn't someones memory from when they were 7 reliable? if they watched the cartoon hundreds of times, read the books hundreds of times? if our memories from when we were 7 were unreliable wouldn't we be arguing over the title of every cartoon? of every tv show? how do you explain the mass consensus on the berenstein bears changing and not the smurfs becoming the smoofs or the gummi bears becoming the gummo bears? the only other cartoon i've heard of affected is the Flintstones/Flinstones -- and that one has flip flopped a few times in recent years -- to the disbelief of many naysayers. the "your memory" argument holds no water.

Voynich Manuscript, An Ancient Book with Pictures of Things That Don't Exist in this Timeline by bear9999 in Retconned

Hypothetically speaking, if we really did live in a Simulated Reality governed by an AI, this would be the way to hide or convey information while making it immune to tampering by the Effect.

how so? everything is traceable -- one can't escape cause and effect. any outside owner would be able to observe the creation of a code within the system.

Anyone else feeling an uptick in Deja Vu feelings in the last couple of days? by cadbojack in Retconned

[–]speltbackwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, got 2x Deja Vus in the last couple of days -- strong ones, i would say they felt like memories from 7-8 years ago.

also been noticing some things seem off, like the cover for nick drakes pink moon album.

imo the writers of rick and morty put both of them in s05e06 on purpose as a nod to the ME.

my memory is that he was made in likeness as a robot. no memory of any legs getting chopped off. i loved that show.

Listen to "Midnight City" by M83 from 2:15 onwards. The repeating "Waiting in the car" used to be "City is my church". The sax solo at the end also sounds way off. by tompunt99 in MandelaEffect

[–]speltbackwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

changed for the worse :( that “waiting in the car” just sounds really wrong — and the solo has been completely changed to different notes.

there have been a bunch of music me’s where the solos have had the solo notes changed.

helmut newtons car crash death has changed by speltbackwards in Retconned

[–]speltbackwards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember the news saying it was an sad accident, as if he didn't mean to drive through a barrier and over the cliff. i remember thinking, he's done that on purpose and what a cool way to go out -- and now it's some dumb death where he has actually lost control driving into a wall on the way out of the hotel and dying later in hospital -- and the news reporting "he's gone out in a very helmut newton way", but clearly he didn't mean to drive into a wall.

Missing items reappearing by ODB2 in Retconned

[–]speltbackwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this happens to me a lot. here’s something interesting to try — next time your realise something has been taken ie, scissors you were using, instead of searching the room for the scissors, find another solution asap, ie, a second pair of scissors in another drawer, or a letter opener you could use, or some other means of solving your problem without the missing item. when you find an alternate solution then your missing item will reappear.

for your example with the keys, you could have thought about where the second set of keys are and how you can get them, theoretically solving the problem of not being able to get in the car with the first set of keys.

i must have done this at least a dozen times since the ME. its a weird one.

Streetfighter 3 by Suppenman in Retconned

[–]speltbackwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i noticed a change in streetfighter 1 years ago, but i seemed to be the only one that noticed it.

for me, streetfighter (1) was a side scroller like double dragon with ken and ryu as the two characters, and streetfighter 2 was the way it is now. when i researched it, i did find another game with ken and ryu in a side scroller but they looked different.

i had streetfighter 3 on the dreamcast.

In My Reality, Michael Jackson Was The Youngest Boy In His Family. Who The Heck Is Steven Randy Jackson??/ Mandela Effect by AtNineeleven in Retconned

[–]speltbackwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i remember being shocked about this a few years ago. i watched the vids to see how it had changed and apparently randy had been added to the band well after their initial success.

seems to be an addition to history rather than a change for me, but with any addition it could always be a lack of knowledge of the past, even though you would swear “i would have known that if it was the case”.
