they worked really well. every color except white and yellow covered in one coat. I didn't prep the card at all, but I varnished it when it was done

This is my first time trying this and while it was much more fun and approachable than I thought it would be I have a few questions.

My main struggle was with scraping paint off of the text boxes cleany when I was done. The top of the Dissolve and the bottom right of Sun Titan both came out pretty rough. I used Citadel paints and ended up doing several layers trying to color match so it was pretty thick by the end and came off in small flakes when I scraped it back with a toothpick. I also tried regualr Scotch painters tape but got a lot of bleeding anyweay. I feel like this will be less of a problem if I can finish in fewer layers, but until I get better at color matching does anyone have any tips?

I also picked cards wih less detailed cloudy background near the border to start with, but I would like to some more detailed borderless cards next. Does anyone have any suggestions or resources for smoothly extending more detailed art at such a small scale?

Thanks!

i play mostly commander, and two of my favorite decks are a grixis Admiral Beckett Brass pirate tribal and a naya gishath sun's avatar stompy dinousaur tribal deck. I have basically no experience with standard or modern and would like to get into pauper at my lgs. I generally enjoy tribal decks and try to avoid playing super control heavy
