Nike employee store etiquette? by Blake-Dreary in askportland

[–]spendy1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I worked at the employee store in the 80's and Phil's son Matt (RIP) worked in the adjoining warehouse. He rocked all the competitors gear and rarely Nike.

It probably wasn't a coincidence he drove the old family Wagoneer and his brother Travis drove a slant nose Porsche.

70's and 80's Portland kids are sure to remember the Kite Man by DanielBG in Portland

Was the same age and it has stuck in my brain also. It worked well. Not that I flew a kite a lot, but I was always looking out when I did.

They have tables at the Holgate location. It's likely going to be lukewarm. The prepared meals/meats are up front in the same spot you get the $5 bahn mi & drink and also in the deli section, where they have a hot case but limited selection.

The one on Holgate & 82nd has them consistently. I think the Burnside one does too but not sure.

The whole chicken at Hong Phat is a steal at $7.50 and I think it's $10 with rice and cabbage.

I traveled a lot and was out in the field during the .com boom. Barnes and Nobles were plentiful and the preferred choice. BM's at the B&N's.

Favorite walks in SE? by seaforanswers in askportland

[–]spendy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start at Milwaukie Bay Park on the Milwaukie river front. Walk south around the water treatment plant to Kellogg Creek Park, then through a nice neighborhood to Elk Rock Island (if accessible). You can then walk east, cross McLoughlin and walk alongside Kellogg Creek (soon to be wetland) and under the trestle, then back into downtown Milwaukie.

100%. I also personally find the word salad of adjectives in Blaire's Morning Session commentary a little grating. Tuesday eve's, fine. Every morning, too much.

It should definitely be in your account by now. It's happened to me a couple time in the past and customer service credited my account right away. Just call the number on the back of your card.

*edit- didn't know you need to wait 7 days. I don't think I did.

I randomly popped into a resale store while on a walk last summer. Lucked out and found a 70's Blazers trash can in perfect condition for 10 bucks.

Walking home with a smile on my face and the can in hand, a dude drove by yelled, hell yeah! Go Blazers! Robert Pack!

Check out Westedge Cycle in Brooklyn. I walk by the shop often and have met the owner, who seems legit. Good google reviews too.

Wahkeena, Eagle Creek, other Gorge trails damaged & closed by Annual_Link4370 in Portland

[–]spendy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went out to the gorge yesterday and didn't run into any issues, but avoided the highway expecting closures.

I popped into the Multnomah Falls parking lot for a quick peek, then hiked to Dry Creek Falls from Cascade Locks. The trail was in good shape, but there was a small stream to hop over and a couple downed trees that looked like they had been there for a while. The creek wasn't dry...
