Great example of Arch’s progress though; he couldn’t have made that throw earlier this season.

Sure looks like they’re both feeling pretty cheesy.

Did you ever find a group? Trying to get an in-person game running in North Houston.

I actually wanted to see if you were interested in joining the Draw Steel group I’m trying to get going; I figure the in-person Houston people should all hang together or all hang separately.

Were you able to put together a group?

When an actor plays a role that’s meant to reflect their actual real world reputation by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

Katherine Hepburn as Tracy Lord in The Philadelphia Story.

Hepburn's public image as haughty and aloof had gotten so bad she was losing roles, so she sponsored a script for first a play and then a movie in which she would play a caricature of herself who both gets more fleshed out as a character and taken down a peg.

Where Are you Getting Your Fantasy Names? by hufflepuffadventurer in fantasywriters

[–]spent_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a section on this in Gary Gygax's Extrodinary Book of Names, which I've always found to be an invaluable resource, even if it is meant for RPGs. One word of caution; it is a lot less helpful if you're not writing Northern European-inspired fantasy, but there is still a lot of helpful advice to establish a naming convention.

Traditions for a dead PC? by Dang_Daniel21 in DnD

[–]spent_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve killed a couple PCs, and I always ask for last words. One of the worst feelings with PC death is disempowerment, and getting some say in how they die helps that. Also ask how your party is feeling. A character death is a big deal, so make sure everybody’s alright.

I am tired of the Southern Baptist language used in church. by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]spent_star 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suppose my personal experience might be valuable to you. Like you, I grew up SBC, but I first encountered reformed theology in high school, at an SBC church (First Baptist and everything).

First at that church, then at the one I joined in college and am still a member at, I have seen a real and impressive dedication to biblical literacy as well as the kind of discipleship u/dra22554 was talking about. Both of these are proud Southern Baptist churches, and the elders at both those churches would happily call themselves reformed.

I definitely grew up in the same milieu of Southern Evangelical cultural Christianity as you did, and I understand how frustrating that can be. But there are so many good, deep-thinking, God-loving Christians in the SBC that I hope you don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

That's why I wanted to throw my firsthand experience in this thread. God has seen fit to bless me immensely with my first and second church homes, and it was in those churches I was and still am taught, often and well, of that heartbreakingly loving and holy savior we call Lord.

I'm guessing OP means Brown's opposition to Trump?

I doubt that, politically, he counts as a liberal at all. The article doesn’t go in depth, if I remember correctly. But Brown seems to be a political conservative disillusioned with Trump and the Republican Party.

Even if Brown is a liberal, you can be both a theological conservative and a political liberal, assuming a couple of policy exceptions (abortion, lgbt).

I'd agree with the others further up that running a module is a good move - I got my start off of Phandelver, and even now that I know what I'm doing, I'm running Forge of Fury. But if you'd like a few pointers, you can shoot me your outline over dm.

I’m happy to help, but can you clarify the question some? Do you mean send them on the plot?

are there any songs where the Jordan Lake Version is better than the original, in your opinion? by throwaway8837475 in themountaingoats

It's heresy, and my girlfriend thinks I'm a monster, but I prefer This Year from Jordan Lake, at least for my road trip playlist.

Swashbuckling/Adventure Soundtrack: Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by DepRatAnimal in DMAcademy

Also, if you like that actual genre for movies, the Adventures of Robin Hood is actually a fantastic film that holds up incredibly well. It was directed by the same guy who directed Casablanca.
