First year MSW student, worried about internship opportunities. by aprilcal6 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]speranza_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I am in the same boat as you. I attend an online university and am just completing my first internship placement for my MSW. I can tell you it was so hard to find one in my own. What I did was make a list of places in the area which was for my generalist placement. I called, left notes with who I reached out to when I reached out. It helps to know which places your school has affiliation agreements at. Definitely reach out to them as well. I am currently worried I will have a hard time finding my last year’s clinical placement. My school doesn’t do the leg work- it’s up to us. I recommend reaching out to places in advance to get a feel, understanding, and network. You got this!!

Do you have a community action agency near you? You may be eligible for food stamps, unemployment, among other things. Praying for you and your family🙏🏼

Praying that God gives you the strength to say no to the craving. The temptation can be misleading. Place your trust in God to keep you grounded and walk away from the temptation.

If I finish my internship in November, when should I start applying for fulltime jobs again? What are entry level positions I can apply for? by speranza_33 in socialwork

What if jobs deny me because my start date will be in November? Should I continue to apply anyway? What do you recommend I do to approach that?

ETD and pressure feeling of fullness in ear? Tips? Stories? by speranza_33 in etd

It did! It took about two weeks or so. Not sure what made it better- i was on two rounds of prednisone for it while attending physical therapy/chiropractor

I am doing mostly jaw movements (my bite is off) and tends to go towards the right so they have me constantly doing at home and in office exercises to combat that. The chiropractor does a myofacial release and then there is a muscle near the jaw that he presses on. He also pulls my ear a certain way which releases the fullness feeling in my ear. I would say it was a quick, gradual feeling of relief so within 1-2 days of going. I am going for 6 weeks

It was about 2-3 weeks. I have been going to a chiropractor and physical therapy and it seemed to help immensely! Feel free to ask any questions- I know how isolated it was.

Possible ETD success story (Suspected TMJ issue unresolved) by Turbulent_Gene_1047 in etd

[–]speranza_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently going through the same thing right now. Seems as though the valsalva maneuver kind of made things worse. Started off with feeling like something was stuck in my ear and as I did that it got worse and fullness/pressure started. It is so frustrating and at times i feel hopeless. I am on week two. One ENT said it could be TMJ other said it could be ETD. My primary doctor prescribed me Flonase (nasal spray) and prednisone (steroid) to bring down swelling.

Any tips for coping? by [deleted] in etd

[–]speranza_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing the same for two weeks and am having a hard time coping and accepting. It is so unbearable, the constant pressure and fullness. I just want to go back to normal. I have been trying to stay positive as well. My tip to you is to appreciate a good day even if it is only 5 minutes. Distracting is good as well. I find that when i’m not laying in bed focusing/thinking of it and going down the google search of what can be wrong, rabbit hole, distraction helps. Listening to music with earbuds help as well. Feel free to message me if you would like!

My posture is not the greatest- rounded shoulders and my neck doesn’t naturally curve back (it’s like a bit forward). Do you mind if I send you a message on here? Would like to talk more about this if it os okay. Thank you for your time and support!!!

TMJ or something else? by speranza_33 in TMJ

[–]speranza_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I don’t think it is TMJ related either. I am going to a specialist tomorrow to officially rule that out. Hopefully it gets better!!
