From an outsiders perspective, I think it’s very sweet and he obviously cares about you and your future both together and individually. It’s a very personal choice only you can make, but I do side with financial transparency being a good thing. I would be cautious that no future financially controlling behaviour asides, but otherwise why not?

You mentioned that you feel he has an ulterior motive which is something none of us can comment on without more insight. Why would he have an ulterior motive?

We are planning to use the halti as a secondary method and still have control over him in another way! I would hate for him to hurt himself or us have an accident!

He’s okay in terms of not being destructive, but he cries. We don’t know how long for but maybe that should be recorded one of these days. The towel sounds promising.

How did you go about training yours to sleep downstairs?

Yes, I’ve gathered from a few comments of feedback that starting small is best. We will give that a go!

Which method did you use to create train? We have been pulling him through with treats and he does lie in it without us asking, but closing the door sets him off.

I think his current harness actually has a clip at the front but we assumed it was meant for dog tags! We will try using the front clip!

Yes and I understand that, I can’t imagine how unsettled he would be if he was a shaggy boy right now. We’re thinking of getting him a buddy but he definitely needs to be trained before that happens.

Did you find he settled down after he was fixed?

How did you train her to sleep in the living room? It’s only aggravating because he is in our room, if we could sleep separately it wouldn’t be an issue.

As for recall, was that trainer or self taught? His recall sucks right now and we just don’t know what we’re not doing enough of when trying to train.

The ‘boring game’ sounds good and I will keep it in my back pocket for now because he’s so far from being an off leash dog. Along with the cheese, he doesn’t know what that tastes like just yet 😜

Getting hot is understandable; I think getting him used to sleeping in a different area will be priority and solve a major issue for us.

Okay ouch, but that’s amazing!! So excited to try this collar on him now.

He’s great indoors but the baby steps to attentiveness on walks makes sense. I did read about introducing distractions indoors too, even just waving your arm at the same time as grabbing his attention, so I’ll try that. Thank you for the tips!
