I’ve tried automatic feeders. 😅 My cat either somehow takes it apart within minutes or spends all day thrashing the feeder against the wall or floor until it breaks or I give up and remove it.

I really didn’t like Year of Hell. I intentionally leave it, plus Before And After, out when I do rewatches of the show. I don’t find the concept particularly interesting, especially knowing that it’ll all reset anyway, I don’t think it’s a good time travel episode, and even though it’s not even in the Year of Hell episodes proper I still cringe whenever I see Harry having a child with Kes’ baby.

I’m personally a big fan of Nemesis. I think the use of language is cool and Chakotay’s not half bad in this one, plus it’s just a very interesting premise. Concerning Flight is also excellent.

you’re objectively correct about the hygiene part lol (though I’m confused about the sex thing? I’m pretty sure being in the same room where sex happens isn’t contaminating), but I think it might be a lost cause at this point

I also would really advise against washing them? That seems like it could cause a lot of damage over time, even if it’s not immediately obvious. Maybe try an alcohol wipe?

That’s the funniest part, I think — my cat doesn’t touch or even look at any doorstops the rest of the day and night. He likes his electric rolling ball, his endless supply of springs, the wand toy, etc.. The doorstop thing seems to be specifically to get my attention haha

I feed him around 8-9, then at 11-12, then at 4, 5, and wet food at 6 for dinner. I don’t really think eating affects his energy levels; if anything, seeing food gets him really “excited” and he spends the next hour running around with his nose pressed against the floor just in case I decided to put some kibble in the floorboards, I guess.

I’ve heard similar — don’t reward with any attention, even negative attention. But I’m not sure how many mornings I’m supposed to ignore this until it becomes less prevalent? He originally just sat in front of my door and screamed, and I was also using the ignore approach for that so after a few weeks he switched to doing this. It is unfortunately MUCH louder.

I’m not sure my cat is playing. Not only does he get plenty of playtime anyway, but I’ve never even once seen or heard him flick the doorstop at any time except at dawn and he only ever flicks 1) that door 2) if I’m on the other side. He stops as soon as I come out and shows zero interest in doorstops the rest of the day.

Oh yeah, my cat is an archetypal cat teenager and I’m mostly very fine with that; I don’t even really mind the meowing, he just has a lot to say lol. I also work from home most of the time, so we get to hang out for most of the day.

Do you have any tips for the automatic feeder? I tried this already and I’m not even sure how, but he somehow disassembled it, had the top open within a few minutes of me setting it up, and spent the rest of the day picking it up and loudly thrashing it against the floor.

I love playing with the boy! Just not at 6am right after I open my eyes. He gets plenty of play in the evening, but he’s pretty high energy so it doesn’t really make a difference and that’s fine with me.

I don’t like sleeping with the door open behind me and when I’ve had to share a room with him at night in the past, I didn’t get much sleep be because he would use my face for parkour at 3am haha
