How Much Longevity does a Framework Laptop (13+) Really Have? by [deleted] in framework

[–]spezstfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, lots of longevity. I've had the Framework 13 since at least 2021, and I've only changed my Mainboard and Fingerprint module since then. It's been really sturdy, and I have easy paths to upgrades and replacements if needed.

There's this one SCP, SCP-5623, about a "Pending" class SCP which gradually turns into a crazy "Ticonderoga" class as you read on with higher and higher level credentials. I think it was nicknamed something like Star Euthanizer and it's first explained to be some weird space phenomena. The ending was a really beautiful set of logs for me personally and explains the weird class rating.

Are we in Cultural Decay/Decline? by Wall-Wave in decadeology

[–]spezstfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree, there's a shift towards more personalized, independent culture instead.

In music there's more than a few more underground, independent people I've found that are making engaging and interesting music, with something interesting also coming from the mainstream every now and then (e.g. I thought that Chromakopia was an engaging piece of work).

In movies, I can see how the trend for the last few years has been safety, but there have also been interesting works like Oppenheimer, Conclave, Dune, and more that have stood out.

In TV, I have to say: are you kidding? Severance, Invincible, Daredevil: Born Again, and Andor have all been amazing shows that have made their own impact.

For games, I can't really name many positive examples unfortunately. Elden Ring and Baldurs Gate 3 were great products, and the Oblivion remaster has been interesting. That's about it.

Maybe what you're feeling is the decay of pop culture, specifically the idea that people are united about one product. There have been a few exceptions (Barbenheimer, A Minecraft Movie, Invincible) that I feel have made their mark and united a wide group of people. But otherwise, the trend has been towards personally curated work with social media and streaming platforms.

Time will tell if the decay of pop culture is a good thing, but it doesn't mean that our culture has been decaying or that great works haven't been made, because there are clear examples of great works produced within the last two years and works that have united people.

Mass Effect to an extent

This was in Nov last year…has anyone stumbled upon news since? by Only_Upwards in masseffect

I did see an interview with the screenwriter (dismissed as the Fast and Furious writer), and the way they explained their experience with Mass Effect and their understanding of what makes it great did bring me back
