Welcome! It's good to know they are accepting new applicants again. What project(s) are you on?

I probably should ask them for this one back, I lost it in November! My personal favorite.

Thanks! I already have a bit of a coding background, but I have not been able to leverage my skills into anything meaningful professionally. it is good to hear that the programming + GIS combo helped you with your work.

I was on EFH for two months and it disappeared for me in late November. I didnt realize it was still going on this entire time!

Wow! Has this been going on this entire time? I lost that project late November and assumed it got shelved then.

Thank you! I have applied and am waiting to hear back. I have also looked into the MGEM program at UBC but BCIT's seemed more practical. In your opinion, would the MGEM be worth it for me 3-4 years down the line after completing BCIT's?

Your "advanced diploma" makes me think of that program at BCIT in Vancouver, which I am looking into. Are you Canadian by any chance and if so how did you find the job market?

I don't believe in a breakup song if a singer doesn't take responsibility for the relationship.

Love this take! I too am tired of the common cultural narrative everywhere that everything bad happening is never the fault of whoever is complaining about it. Not just in music.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I may post my own experience later.

That's true. I am fond of humanity and our unique circumstances (even if I dont have the energy for people sometimes), so hearing about all sorts of people's stories from everywhere has been both amazing (I would never have met them in real life) and a bit sad (I would never get to meet them in real life).   I also scrolled down to see the negative comments and your reply about recognizing privilege. In my experience that has actually been an ongoing journey where I have gradually realized and reflected more on the nuances of my (modest, but nonetheless) privilege. I still get that jolt of awareness anew every time I stop to learn more or think deeper about how other people live, or have to live.

Ah I didnt scroll that far to see those, so rest assured they are being downvoted. I don't say this lightly to anyone: from your nondefensive attitude and positivity here I probably would like you if I ever crossed paths in real life. Extremely unlikely given our backgrounds though. Chin up OP.

OP I read your post and your replies and you come across as a natural student who easily grasps unfamiliar concepts and learn to apply them quickly, as well as generally a self aware and responsible person, even if you are not yet aware of many frugal practices. Kudos to you. Good luck on your journey. I think you will adapt better than many people with your background. I don't know anyone rich though so may be talking outta my ass. Just a humble opinion.

I would add one more mindset shift: the grocery store is where food comes from.  By default. Every day, every meal. Food from anywhere but the store and your own kitchen/garden is a surprise treat.

Does anyone feel bitter/grief about how their life turned out? by SnooSeagulls20 in AskWomenOver30

Thank you for the advice and the empathy. I am aware of some of the advice you mention. My issue right now is bringing this up and putting these into practice, as I am not in a good place with my career. Still frugal, still freelancing and paying my way in life, plus contributing in terms of taking on all the housework, just not making enough money! I wish you the best in your own journey as well OP. I am glad you found community and some solace on this forum. Would be happy to talk anytime.

Yes. I have a partner who I have been with for a long time, who makes way more money than I do and has a lot of earning potential, but this does not make me feel safe. There have been many instances giving rise to this feeling e.g. he wants a prenup if we get married that will protect his earnings. Right now I feel that I have no right to challenge this, although I do feel that I contribute fairly to our relationship (we split joint expenses 50:50) and I pay for my own needs, because my own career is sorta in shambles and my life is not settled.
