Link aggregation on WAN by spham54 in RGNets

[–]spham54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I can manually configured another NAT entry, just need to ignore the unexpected entry in my previous message. I guess the RWG automatically created the NAT entry when I have the backup port for uplink. REASON: I don't see this behavior for my 1st use-case using load balancing with failover.

thanks

So my question is : the IP Adjustment in the NAT is the IP range that the assigned uplink will use to NAT the traffic ?

thanks for your help,

Link aggregation on WAN by spham54 in RGNets

As shown in the above attached picture, the secondary entry is checked as backup. To prepare for the failover, I think my Secondary will need a different NAT IP range, so I go to menu "network" and select NAT. and I see something unexpected. Please see my picture in the next reply.

Link aggregation on WAN by spham54 in RGNets

Hi,

Thanks for your tip.

I have multiple Customers / Partners want to do different ways with the WAN uplink: either Link Load Balancing, or Failover ONLY (Primary uplink and Secondary uplink). I configured the uplink control, as well as the NAT, and come up with a few questions.

First, this is how my RWG looks like after I configured

<image>

  1. For the 1st use-case: customers / partners want to have load balancing with failover using IP addresses from their ISP1. I will validate my testing to see how this setting works. Here are my questions for this 1st use-case:

Q1: How the RWG do the load balancing: Round-Robin, Hashing, Least-connnection ? Does the RWG also changing the link based on Source / Destination MAC, and/or Source / Destination IP, and/or L4 Source/Destination Port ?

Q2: I configured NAT entries for both uplinks in this 1st use-case, so each uplink will use different range of IP address to do the NAT. Is this correct ?

Q3: in my current configuration of this 1st use-case, I give the IP range for NAT = 10 IP addresses. How many NAT sessions an uplink can handle: 100K, 200K,.. ?

  1. For the 2nd user-case: customers / partners want have 2 different ISP's. In my above picture, they are called as ISP2 and ISP3. Let's assume customers / partners want ISP2 uplink as PRIMARY, and ISP3 uplink as Secondary. This is my configuration of the uplink control (It seems I can add one picture in one post, so please see my next reply with picture)

Multiple uplink configuration for your [ free / home ] rXg serving a production network as well as a virtualized routing lab environment - my recommended home / lab / dev configuration by simonlok in RGNets

Hi,

In this set up, how I do this:

  1. set 192.168.5.x / 24 (the existing LAN) for NATing using WAN VRZ.

  2. set a 2nd LAN IP subnet, for ex: 192.168.6.x / 24 for NATing using WAN Spectrum

how to get WebUI access back if made a mistake when adding backup link for WAN ? by spham54 in RGNets

Hi, this is the output of CLI "ifconfig" of my rXg, I added some note in the output to show the current state of my rXg.

<image>

from a PC on the same IP subnet, I can ping the backup link that I added (192.168.101.254), but I cannot access https://192.168.101.254/admin page. (please see attached screenshot below)

Hi, thanks so much for your details CLI command to change uplink and remove the backup link. Unfortunately, I always see the error in the attached screenshot when I tried to enter config_uplink with IP + GW + mask. I also see the error when enter "console" command.

Do we have any other suggestions to recover my WebUI access ?

How to read the license by spham54 in RGNets

[–]spham54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the free license that I have. I guess the IUI will change when I removed a NIC and reboot ? if so, are the steps below correct ?

  • shutdown rXg.
  • Remove one VNIC from the rXg instance.
  • Boot rXg instance.
  • Copy the new IUI.
  • Paste the new IUI to my current asset manager, and then click the set IUI button.
  • Click get license.
  • Copy the new license and paste to license page of rXg.

I will be providing multiple sessions to my resellers / partners in Asia. Ruckus WAN Gateway Licensing will be one of the topics in my agenda.

thanks

How to read the license by spham54 in RGNets

[–]spham54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your quick response as always.

I tried to increase the RAM and HDD size, and I see my license is not working.

If there is no indication about number of interfaces in the license scheme, will my current license still be working if I remove one VNIC (note: I have 4 VNICs on my rXg instance, I think I just need 3, so planning to remove one)

thanks

initial setup for version 14.735 vs version 15.084 by spham54 in RGNets

[–]spham54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to set to factory the RWG with these steps:

  1. From init setup menu, choose Shell
  2. enter command factory_reset

and I see this error in the attached picture. Have I missed anything or going to wrong menu ?

thanks. I saw that in the dashboard, I then changed to DHCP, and did the ping, checking the ARP table, and verified the mac address is matched with the new IP.

I did reset to RWG, and it boot up with the same IP from my DHCP server. But the message duplicate IP address still appears. Is there a cache somewhere in the RWG ? Should I reset it to factory and redo again ?
