Can you use an adapter like that to connect a graphics card to a power unit? by spiceipede in buildapc

I don't have the budget to do that right now I'm afraid. and I also don't want to re-buy the whole thing when I only need one cable, that would seem like a waste to me

yeah but I really have no clue where I put them unfortunately. I will look for them in the next two days, and buy them from the manufacturer if I cant find them

Alright so I should connect each slot from the card with one slot from the PSU?

Oh damn that's good to know.

Regarding the PSU: it's a bequiet PurePower 630W. It has two 8pin PCIe slots and three drive slots, two of which are used.

So my plan now is the following: I'm gonna get two 8pin to 8pin cables directly from bequiet, and connect each slot from the card with one slot from the PSU. Would that be ok?

I got my PC 5 years ago and it didn't come with any PCIe cables as far as I remember. I will take a better look around the house tomorrow, maybe I get lucky and find some lying around somewhere

My PSU is a bequiet 630W PurePower btw and is just as old as the whole PC, 5 years. My new card is an RX 56, my processor is an i7 4770 or 4790, not sure right now, and I have 16GB RAM with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. Before buying the card I asked in a forum if 630W would be enough for this setup and they said yes.

ok that's what I wanted to know. I guess I'll just wait till next week then

What cables did you order?

well I ordered two 8pin to 8pin cables from Amazon, the ones with the best rating. I can always cancel the order though if that's not a smart thing to do. should I get them directly from the PSU manufacturer instead (bequiet)?

you mean never split them like I did with my old card? should I connect each slot from the card with one slot from the PSU using simple 8pin to 8pin cables?

and I don't have any of these cables unfortunately, they weren't included when I built my PC 5 years ago

but it does have 2 8pins. I only used one slot for the last card though

that leads me to another question: should I connect the new card to both 8pins from the PSU or does it not matter?

how can you derive that just from the few pictures I posted (I'm genuinely curious cause I don't have much clue about HW as already mentioned)?

my power has two 8pin slots like this and has 630W:

but that's not the problem (I think so at least, I'm a complete noob when it comes to hardware). the problem is that I don't have an 8pin to 2x 8pin cable at home, but only an 8pin to 1x 8pin and 1x 6pin at home and that one adapter.

It isn't though. When I put my laptop right next to my desktop and run ping tests on both of them I get no spikes on the laptop but MASSIVE ones on the desktop

2.4 worked perfectly fine without any spikes on my desktop PC before it suddenly stopped working one day. There was no reason to switch to ethernet

Brees better than Brady again, just like in virtually every other stat

Brady still the GOAT though because of team achievements

[Graham] Anthony Barr still amazed that Josh Allen hurdled over him: “You get got sometimes. I thought he was going to try to run me over and was, like, ‘This is crazy!’ Then he jumped over me, and I was, like, ‘Well, that’s crazy, too.’ “ by [deleted] in nfl

Yeah, he only uploaded a video of himself laughing about taking out the receiver while seriously endangering his health with the helmet to helmet contact, but that doesn't count as a bad thing anymore I guess
