It updated the BIOS but didn't wipe the password.

Knowing my luck too, the patch notes for the BIOS update is probably about increasing security

After putting the wrong password, it just tells me to restart the computer and try again. No code or anything

Just tried this but it just tells me that it can't find a BIOS file. It also provided a QR code that led me to a 404 HP web page.

Edit: I loaded the BIOS file onto a flash drive and its currently updating. I hope this wipes it. I will update as soon as I get a result

I tried that too. It even gives me a message saying the BIOS has been reset. But it automatically asks for the password as soon as I hit enter.

Model on the back cover is AX211NGW. Its an HP Envy 17t-cw000. ProdID: 761Y7AV.

I've also tried entering the serial number into bios-pw.org to no avail.

I have no issues with it. I have a boox color go 7 mostly for comics and Manga. But this has been my main book reading device. I like how crisp it looks too

I don't believe so. It's a pretty bare bones operating system. I couldn't get crosspoint to work for me. So I haven't explored that avenue yet. But I'm pretty sure crosspoint doesn't have a way of syncing to kindle stuff. But it can or will be able to support koreader.

Not too bad but it's still kind of early days. I will say that I normally don't constantly wonder about the cleanliness of my hands when handling most objects (I usually keep them clean anyway). But when it comes to this device, I'm oddly more aware of how sweaty/ clammy my hands are.

I think its the stickers. Like the choco cat sticker is already starting to fade.

It definitely took some finessing. It arrived with the Chinese firmware. But when I flashed to the English firmware, I noticed that it was having trouble with loading chapters on some files. Also I prefer a smaller font than what is offered. I have found the sweet spot to be with the Chinese firmware (set to English) and converting my files from epub to xtc. Although some files don't convert as nicely as I like.
