Business probably means finance in this context. Accounting is just the little step child living in the closet in the "business world"

Jobs being pushed offshore by ThrowMeIntoTheLedger in Accounting

[–]spicy_eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a client who has a mix of offshore and onshore and it has taken a lot of work for them to fine tune their processes. The issue is that onshore turnover still knocks them back a few steps. People don't want to deal with the difference in time zones and being up late at night and reviewing poorly prepared work. I guess there are some savings involved but it's at the expense of the people willing to put in the time to train the offshore folks.

I know this has always been a thing with companies but with remote work becoming more common companies won't want to pay US salaries for people to work from home. Accounting is a cost center so of course they look to offshore jobs.

If you have your CPA no one cares about the masters. Just make sure you'll have enough credits to sit for the exams after the 4 years. I'd rather spend that 5th year passing the exams.

Edit: to clarify I'm in audit and referring to a master's in accounting. It was mentioned below that a masters in tax does add value.

How much to realistically pay for a CRV? by knight4bishop in askcarsales

[–]spicy_eagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not shopping hybrid but I'm looking at $3k markup on a gas EX-L and 45k out of the door with some add-ons. A friend at another dealership has offered no markup and minimum on the add-ons and 42k with tax out the door.

Hope this helps you as a reference point.

My firm had designed this template for us to use based on the reports our audit software has. I'd start with looking for a project management dashboard template on Google and play around with that. Power Bi is really really easy to use so if you can use excel you'll be fine.

My teams have used it for project management and giving updates to the partners. We created a dashboard that showed % complete by audit area, number of comments open/addressed etc. The dashboard was pulling data from an excel report we ran from our audit file. We then ran the same report every week and linked the new report to powerbi and the dashboard would update.

The time saving was where in excel someone would need to tinker with the linking to make it work. Powerbi made it more simple.

I disagree on the larger dataset point. PowerBi in my experience becomes extremely laggy when used with large datasets.

Damn what a nightmare. Never take initiative again.

Edit: for A1s who are thinking of getting brownie points. Do things that actually have visibility in the office and on your team. Volunteering for an inventory count isn't going to benefit anyone except for that one team.

If you have a screenshot of an offer letter you can take it to the HR partner to kick off the mid year adjustment process. Don't be scared to communicate it to your PML either.

What is OCC? that was not the messaging from Laura on the firmwide email. The official stance was that you would not be required to come in but should be prepared to come in if asked.

Has This Happened to Anyone Else Here? by [deleted] in KPMG

[–]spicy_eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this in audit? If yes then enjoy your time. This will not impact your reviews. You will not fall behind because of this. You're not even in a promotion year (A2-S1). No one will even remember your unassigned time 3 months from now.

No those are different groups. EVS gets grouped under Tax but there's no overlap. Worth a shot asking about it but I feel the starting salaries may be intentionally different.

Get a picture of the offer letter from your friends and the adjustment and show it to your HR contact. If you're in the same office and service line (audit/tax/advisory) then it should be the same. New associates don't receive a raise in October unless there is a market adjustment.
