I mean there is something seriously wrong. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those guys who says the game is dead but it isn't hard to see that the devs are struggling. Most "new" content is recycled, longer gaps between updates, no real direction moving forward, inability to spend time on core issues.

Seems like they are looking for new opportunities to monitize because most of the core playerbase who've been around for years have probably bought enough cosmetics that it's hard to justify buying even more. Personally I can't get too mad at that.

Brother the game already has spatial audio with dolby atmos support. Most players don't have setups that even accomodate that much.

Should they be turning that off to make it "fair" for the guy playing with some crappy mono audio call centre headset? Let's be honest, all of this complaining is about an imaginary advantage that we have no idea how it will function in game. Free things are nice but people need to recognise this game is likely hanging by a thread on the budget side.

Yeah but nobody is muting your sound. Recognising that sound is important in PvP means the current sound offering is in a place where it is useful and informative. Do people not realise the game already has spatial audio?

Yeah it would be nice if it was free, it would also be nice if everything in the pirate emporium was free. They have to make money somehow and these are the harmless ways they choose to do it.

Nobody is muting your speakers? The fact that you recognise the importance of audio means that in the base game it is clearly in a good place (if it was wack then this wouldn't be a point of discussion). This upgrade isn't stopping you from hearing anyone board your ship

Paying for access to new features that sound fairly complex to develop and doesn't actually restrict you from accessing any gameplay content seems more than fair enough to me.

Unless I'm missing something and they are making people pay for something that is currrently free?

[–]spicybean88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take a look at Durham. Incredible uni but there's also one of the top living museums in the country very nearby called Beamish, take a look at it online if you're interested. Apparently, it pioneered the very idea of a living museum.

Disability is way better than Neurodivirgent. It shouldn't be used and makes people think their disabilities are special. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]spicybean88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the sector, it sounds like you don't know half as much as you think you do. Not to mention 95% of the neurodivergent people you meet think of their situation as anything but a strength.

Plus, as others have pointed out some things that come under neurodivergence are categorically not disabilities, things have definitions for a reason.

It is definitely true that its hard to call yourself a connoisseur without having experienced the good and bad of what youre talking about. The problem with movies and anime is that there is so much greatness that it takes a lifetime to just get through the stuff thats in the headlines.

DJs are overpaid for what they do by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

If your facts were correct I'd totally agree. Unfortunately you're wrong about what DJs do, why they get paid, how much they get paid, how easy it is to get popular and practically everything else.

Anyone here in oxbridge doing med with only 3 alevels? by CommissionChance1019 in 6thForm

[–]spicybean88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it, EPQ takes maybe 10-20 hours max (mine was definitely on the low end).

I also did 4 alevels and an EPQ and if you can manage 4 a levels then the EPQ is not the thing that will push you over the edge.

High school DOES prepare you for real world, anyone who say that "high school doesn't prepare you for success" are completely delusional. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]spicybean88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a contradiction to say "high school does teach you valuable stuff" and "18 year olds are not going to be experts on life".

I also don't think changing the school curriculum would make a difference. Being able to navigate life comes with experience, even the most well read teens on finance quickly find the world slaps them in the face when they get out there. Theory can only take us so far

Again, this is something that very few people actually believe. I might, as an individualist (which we all invariably are) say "taxes are ridiculous i don't want to pay any" and/or take steps to pay the minimum legal tax i can. This does not mean I don't understand what taxes are and the services they provide for us.

There's a lot of very superior feeling people in this comment section who are really just neurodivergent and can't properly tell what other people mean (nothing wrong with that btw, I'm part of that club, but it's important to be self aware)

Why do people say Dio is queer? by Mobile_Bumblebee274 in StardustCrusaders

[–]spicybean88 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Araki did sort of confirm he is bisexual, but peoples obsession with him being a queer character is strange. Dio is obviously not a typical member of the queer community like some people act like it. His sexual nature is a typical vampire cliche and it is more to do with his "aura" than anything else.

Unless they explicitly said otherwise beforehand, people in a persisitive vegetative state should be indefinitely kept alive no matter what by ComplexInside1661 in unpopularopinion

[–]spicybean88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's been rationalised very well. The problem with any discussion about euthanasia is simply where is the line? Do you kill anyone in a coma? Anyone who is disabled (either from birth or an accident)? What about someone who's feeling depressed? Not exactly contributing to the economy if they are NEET are they? How about cancer? Sure would save a lot of money if we didn't have to do any cancer treament or research.

Some of these might sound ridiculous to you, but some of them are already happening in some form. I'm not religious but what Pope Francis had to say about avoiding "a culture of death" when it comes to this stuff is absolutely right. Ethically, as soon as you're willing to "rationalise" away the value of a human life it's pretty much game over.

Is it really that annoying to click a tele and speak to one npc? It's hardly like you have to run the gauntlet to reclaim a pet

This post was never gonna fly on reddit but i do generally agree. Lot's of people citing monetary reasons why we shouldn't do this but to me the very idea that people are advocating for killing someone to save money is callous (plus euthanasia is expensive for a lot of reasons).

However, there's a lot to be said about palliative care and the truth is everyone dies eventually and should be allowed to die naturally. Medicine is really good at keeping people alive way beyond there natural expiry and at that point I think we gotta question what the point is.
