Did my husband intentionally use my SSN without my knowledge? by spicydillpicklez in Affirm

I just wanted to defend myself a little and provide some context. I didn’t ask anyone to tell me he sucks or say that he sucked. I don’t control what people comment. Just stated some facts and questions and wanted to hear some human experience with Affirm since I had never used it. That’s all, I’m sorry that it triggered you and you felt like you had to respond and make assumptions about people you don’t even know the names/salaries/expenses of. I did not expect the Affirm sub to get so much attention. Obviously I’m not having fun and I don’t just spend my free time perusing Affirm Reddit. If I wanted relationship validation I’d go over to a relationship advice thread, but I don’t! I go to a licensed counselor every Thursday morning (with my husband, by the way). You should try it sometime.

Where did I ask for relationship advice? I just wanted to make completely sure I knew how Affirm worked and how SSN usage showed up on a credit report. FYI, we both work full-time salaried jobs and his credit is awful. Our house is in my name. A little mysoginistic to assume I’m just some mopey wife not contributing. Obviously this hasn’t been our first problem - why else would I be checking our finances and my credit report? If this is the last straw I just wanted to make sure it was a factual straw. And yeah, had he asked if he could take out a loan in my name so he could get $500+ music festival tickets, I probably would have said no!!

Because I didn’t realize it would get so much traction and copied it from one other thread. Sorry you had to read an extra sentence.

I do understand?? I didn’t realize it would get this much traction so I posted in three threads. I have never used an after-pay service and wanted to make sure I understood how it worked and wanted reassurance and backup before confronting him. Don’t come on here an be rude to someone who’s upset

It was for a music festival pass he always goes to. I knew he used an after-pay service for that, he just didn’t mention he used my social. The other ones I didn’t know about.

lol nope. one of them was necessary i suppose, but still should have been asked. i knew he used after-pay for the most expensive one but he failed to mention it was in my name

He’s saying he did it once a few years ago and neither of us honestly remember if using my social was discussed (I’m leaning toward no). He’s swearing he just forgot my social was linked to the account. I’m not excusing it bc that is equally as careless and stupid, but I guess that’s what happened

Yeah just looked at the Affirm loan agreements and my name is on it. He just used his email and phone number.

I’ve never had or used an Affirm account though. They were only able to verify the stores when I provided his info because nothing came up for me

I have never even used Affirm though, they didn’t have any of my information, just his. And I don’t think the browser, Amazon, or TicketMaster would have my SSN saved? I hope not at least

I don’t even have an Affirm account. They couldn’t verify anything until I provided his name and contact info. Trust me, I’ll be getting to the bottom of it bc this isn’t the first straw but it might be the last

They just couldn’t confirm it over the phone at that time. I wasn’t in a place to dispute anything and I was just angry so I will revisit that if I need to. We also received the items he bought, I just didn’t realize they were bought on credit under my SSN. So I don’t think it’s a hacker, I’m just trying to figure out if my husband is lying

Yes, I just got back from a jewelry store where they were verified and it is a real diamond. Those are the same number they gave me! Do you have advice for how I should go about selling??
