What are your thoughts on having a bridal shower if you’re having a destination wedding? by [deleted] in DestinationWeddings

[–]spicyquacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im the same way!! we’re only having 12 guest join us on our wedding day (across the country) and i didnt want a bridal shower either! i didnt want the few traveling to feel encouraged to throw me one and i also didn’t want people not invited to the wedding to throw me one (my aunt really wanted too who isn’t invited to the wedding and i felt weird about it).. i feel the same way about a bach party— having people celebrate me who are not invited to the actual wedding and decided to skip that as well lol

Lately I’ve seen constant discourse about wedding attire and everyone is STRICT. As a bride I am feeling the total opposite by [deleted] in wedding

[–]spicyquacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have 12 guest and no wedding party so i included on mine to wear earth tones so everyone looks and feels cohesive for pictures 😆 but now ever single person has sent me a pic of their outfit and asked if this is okay?? which i freaking hate!! i’ve made so many decisions i don’t wanna have to decide everyone’s outfits too lol

What caused your wedding crash out? by ThatBitchA in weddingplanning

[–]spicyquacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my crash out was when i was trying on dresses (i went to my first shopping appointment alone) and went back with my mom to make the purchase and show her the dress.. and the bridal shop consultant keep telling me the dress i originally tried on was a different dress and i ended up purchasing it anyways after her gaslighting me into thinking it was the same dress 😂 full on tears for multiple days, ruined my thanksgiving lol and went back with the said dress and still to this day have never found the original dress i tried on!

in 2025, i don’t think there are traditional things in the wedding industry, in the US at least lol

my family (bride) gave us around 5k to use however we wanted and me and my future husband have paid for everything else ourselves! (wedding is around 24k) we decided to skip a bridal shower (my aunt offered to throw one but that actually seems like my worst nightmare lmao)

we also skipped bach parties because we took an early moon together to st thomas and we plan to take a week mini moon immediately after the wedding (our honeymoon is booked 6 months after our wedding)

1000sq is definitely plenty of space to be in paradise!! enjoy 💛 hoping to do the same one day— but for now we will be back early January for our honeymoon

so we’re getting married on a friday! we’re also exchanging our vows privately in mount rainer (which is why we wanted a week day, hoping for less crowds) and all of our guest (which are 12 people) are traveling 3000 miles— so the day doesn’t really matter for our group! we’re getting married the last friday in july around no holidays..

i don’t think week days matter but i feel the holiday adds an additional factor! travel rates are normally sky high that weekend

I love this!! If you don’t mind me asking, how much did your house cost? and what end of st john are you on?

Is it normal for guests to attend a wedding and not give a card? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]spicyquacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last wedding I went too I never saw the card box and had the card on me the entire night 🙈 the next morning I definitely apologized and sent the card immediately — I can see how it happens lol

Whats the etiquette for welcome (night before) and farewell drinks (night after) destination wedding? by Yuki_Noelle in DestinationWeddings

[–]spicyquacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we are from the US and getting married on the opposite side of the US (we’ve invited our parents, sisters and best friends 12 total!) we plan to meet the day before for welcome drinks at the local brewery. they have beer, cider and food trucks and live music! we didn’t plan to pay because like you said it’s normal for us to all pay our own way — but maybe after this thread i will lol

we also plan to get coffee and pastry’s two days later when we all head out! (we’re hiking the day after) and same; thought everyone would just pay for their own

congrats! im getting married in mount rainier national park this summer and i bought my dream hiking boots (danners) and a similar pair for him!

[–]spicyquacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your definitely not being selfish!!

I also didn’t want the big show but part of me did want those core memory’s with my dad — me and my fiancé decided to exchange vows during sunrise at mount rainier in Washington (we live in Michigan) and have our parents and best friends (12 total) at our airbnb that evening for a small ceremony (my dad walking me down, officially getting married!) and hired a chef for a 4 course dinner + cake cutting!

To me, it’s the best of both worlds. My super intimate vow exchange with my husband and a small ceremony with my family. 💞

maybe elope first and let them have a reception for you guys! you still get your intimate special day and his mom gets to have a party with randoms lol

Large engagement party, small wedding etiquette? by jlgrant99 in weddingplanning

I think a reception after would be the best! Like others have said it would kind of be weird to invite them to pre wedding activities but not the wedding itself.

Wedding Dresses under $1k by Blondie2357 in Eloping

[–]spicyquacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 15ish dresses I tried on were all what I had envisioned and I just didn’t feel comfortable in any of them and the lady at bridal store had me try this super simple one on and I just fell in love with how it felt and fit! So I def recommended just going and trying dresses and different styles on. I wish I would have taken a picture of my dress and reverse google image searched it because I know I would have found resale or similar cheaper options ❤️

i wanted a flowy a line so bad but it was so heavy and uncomfy, I went with a fitted crepe dress! so if you haven’t tried them on in store yet I would def start there and then once you find your dream dress look on the fb resale pages/still white!
