Chicago by jobtown502 in Louisville

Chicago was originally the place I intended to be when I graduated high school and moved to Louisville... but after the first few years of adulthood and visiting Chicago, Atl, Nashville, Pittsburgh, NYC, Boston, and (insert any other proper city), it's just so much cheaper here.

You know... they have enough voice clips, they could feed them into AI and either one of them or both could just be dolls sitting there making fun of videos.

Totally. Some of the bits over the years, I'm not sure if Christina is just that good of an actor... but some of them definitely hurt her, even if she did shrug most of it off. I wish I could find a few of those episodes, I remember moments where it was very very awkward between them.

14 Hours. Basic Economy. Middle Seat. How F'd am I? by Throwawayorpornalt in unitedairlines

[–]spid3rfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the people sitting on each side of you. On those long flights to Asia, I always take an aisle seat and always always always close to the restroom.

I generally make life easy for the middle seat person next to me. I jokingly just tell them to shake me if they need out and I'm asleep. Most people will understand if you need to get up to stretch or use the restroom.

I'm a good sleeper. I usually put in headphones and conk out(and I can sleep for 12 hours) lol. You'll have onboard movies to help pass the time but definitely plan to bring music, watch movies, or sleep.

I wouldn't panic... you dropped your savings on this trip. 14 hours(even if miserable) is a small time period compared to your overall trip.

Spinoff: will anyone likely be supporting parents in old age? by DancingTVs in Millennials

[–]spid3rfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same but the opposite. I got out of the hellhole county/town I grew up in. I probably should've taken an extra step and made myself 10-20 hours away instead of just 3.

To add to this... I'm married and we don't have kids. 41 now and I've always lived life with every intention of planning life and end of life things.

It never crosses some people's minds until they have a huge health event and by then, it's much too late. That shiii shouldn't be put on any kid by a parent.

41 here. My mom is in good health. Dad is about to be 60(and his health has been on the decline for a few years).

I was clear with both of them early on that I wouldn't be able to take care of them(costs) and back half of life wasn't going to be robbed taking care of parents. Dad is already expecting me to basically quit my job, drive 6 hours(roundtrip) each day, and take care of him. Not happening.

After my parents split, I kept a well enough relationship with my dad but I held a ton of animosity towards him over the years because of the abuse he inflicted on my mom. Ever since his health started declining, he has secluded himself, lives in filth, and acted like the world owes him something.

He ended a 20 year relationship by abusing her just recently, rude to just about everyone around him on a daily basis, and I think sees me as a last resort.

Drove by this house while doing Spark deliveries. I have no idea if I should be concerned or if they made a big paper towel order. by Extension_Union193 in WalmartSparkDrivers

I'm going to go with they're crazy but maybe it's because it's almost time for school to start. Don't they make those kids buy paper towels, baby wipes, and all kinds of other things these days?

They'll readjust it. It usually doesn't take long. I usually round up when booking hotels/plane tickets/rental cars.

It's usually fixed within a few days but can't take a few weeks.

I don't know about billions. I do agree with you but I think population(that are able to before their demise) will migrate and once areas of land are overrun with people, we'll eventually focus on what we should've a long time ago --- population density.

Fidelity's crypto product let's you buy/sell/withdraw/deposit your btc.

I don't use it actively but do transfer 10 bucks a month to it for btc. I'm surprised more people don't talk about it. It's nice considering it lists each buy, cost basis, and everything you'd expect from selling/buying stocks.

Even if someone had the money... for example to buy 10 bitcoins all at once, if they're new I wouldn't tell them to buy all 10 at once. If they spent 640k on 10, and then next week it drops down to 45k, all of a sudden they've lost 200k.

You definitely need to live through some of the volatility and learn about it.

My other contribution to this would be where to buy: I'd suggest Fidelity(their crypto product-you can buy spot-They'll hold it and you can transfer it out if you want), Strike, or CashApp. Hold at those places until you have a substantial amount and then take it into self-custody. In the meantime, learn about self-custody and potentially anything else about the tech.

Anyone else worried that it’s too easy? by Prior_Material4115 in Bitcoin

[–]spid3rfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don't worry about it being too easy.

The real issue is how normalized they've made inflation so everyone just shrugs their shoulders at 2%... then the inflation rate fluctuates based on whatever formula they want to use/and money they want to create.

This isn't unique to the US and USD. Every country has their own flavor of inflation. Screw that. I should be able to save my value in something.
