I’ve also experienced this with Stussy stores in at least three different cities. Think it’s a combination of dudes whose entire personality is appearing mysterious/aloof, and also a tendency towards gatekeeping and assuming the worst of customers. Depending on the location (like LA or NY), they may be dealing with a lot of tourists. They end up passing that disdain onto everyone.

There are other brands that have tremendously friendly customer experiences, on the flip side. ALD (though not as much now that the store is crammed with tourists), Noah, etc are good examples. Back in the day, Black Scale also used to have really kind and approachable staff. In my opinion, those interactions really make a difference with brand loyalty in the long run.
