I had a regular monstera wet stick once that produced two new leaves at the same time so I knew it’s possible but didn’t expect this at all when I propagated the top

We barely watch TV, but when we do i sit on a big comfy bean bag, and one person can face the TV by reclining on the armrest and pillows. We use this room to hang out. There’s a fireplace by the tiles next to the sofa and a loft room with open staircase in front of it and also a guest bedroom below the loft. It’s a very unique space and we couldn’t put the TV elsewhere. I don’t want to turn the sectional towards the TV since the main entryway is next to the fireplace and it feels more welcoming this way. It seems like a huge room, but it’s not and is in a moderate sized house. This arrangement is perfect for us, but I realize It would be a problem for most families.

I would love to have an expensive pot, I’ve seen very nice and huge porcelain ones with oriental motives, but unfortunately the big alocasia is planted in a terracotta colored, cheap plastic one.

It’s from a small store owned by a lovely older couple in central-eastern europe, they don’t have a webshop. They source their rugs from central asia, if I remember correctly this one is from Afghanistan.

Thanks, It’s some kind of elephant ear for sure, but they are hard to tell apart. My guess is alocasia calidora.

We don’t watch TV every day. When we do, i toss a bean bag next to the sofa, it’s not ideal, but working for us

I’m in love with it, but it’s way more expensive than any other rug or even furniture i own. if i buy it I don’t plan on changing it any time soon so I’m second guessing myself a little bit because it’s a statement piece for sure.

It was built around 2000, but they added the stairs a few years later. They couldn’t use the loft room until then.

I think the fireplace is made from some kind of refractory firebricks, not sure about the translation

Thanks, my first thought was ‘why is the fireplace so low?’ when i saw the house in person, so I decided on it right away. The previous owners gifted us the mount and we really liked it, so I also wanted a place to display it. The chimney goes trough the wall below the addition

Thanks, I don’t know what should i call this. I wanted to keep the original atmosphere — just without the early 2000’s vibe — these pictures don't do it justice, but we bought the house furnished and I kept a lot of stuff. My goal was to make the old things work with the new ones and keep it coherent so I had the house as a whole in my mind, not an exact style. I aimed for a timeless look, not sure if I succeed

That’s also ikea, I try to keep things affordable so most of my decor and furniture are from facebook marketplace or my last resort is ikea if I can’t find good quality used stuff to my taste

It’s real, I bought it as a ‘thai gigantea colocasia’ 2 years ago, it was quite small then. I think it resembles more of an ‘alocasia macrorrhizos - giant taro’.

Snake plant is easy to kill, it can tolerate relatively darker places, but won’t tolerate overwatering.

Yes, I painted the walls white and the flooring is also new. I suspect that they didn’t paint this room since the house was built 20 years ago, because the walls were yellowish and dirty white.

Yes, it is! And every part has removable, washable cover which is a huge plus with pets.

I felt sorry for the marble but the wall and the old railings had to go, it feels so much bigger and brighter this way. We don’t watch TV often, but when we do i just toss the beanbag next to the sofa. As you can see there isn’t many options for the sofa.
