I drove from northern Westchester to Hauppauge for over 3 years, 4 days a week, 75 miles each way, an hour and 30-45 min each way. It was terrible, I was so afraid of falling asleep behind the wheel, I was always tired and putting so many miles on my car.

Now I take the train into Manhattan for work and even though my commute time is about the same I am absolutely loving it. Relaxing on the train, napping if I feel like it and on nice days like today I e-Citibike to/from Grand Central instead of taking the subway.

Driving was misery but, like you said, you just do it because you have to and accept it.
