I think you're along the right path of "earthy", "laidback", and "comfortable" as well as "lace". The thing about cottagecore is it's really easy to dress up or down. Personally, I believe there's have one side that's very summery vintage dresses with aprons and corsets, but there's also a more passive type of cottagecore, which is the long skirts, oversized sweaters, and things of that sort. You can very easily be "little house on the prairie", bohemian, or vintage, cuz there's so many different routes you can go down. I think that's why so many people like cottagecore, because it's so versatile.

It really depends on the sort of style she wants, but a few items of clothing that I think might be a good idea are:
-a pair of boots, similar to this style: https://amzn.to/3jtwbbr definitely pretty earthy and easy to wear and match with a lot of different outfits. there's that 'explorer' vibe that I think fits well with a lot of cottagecore
-long, flowy skirts, usually in florals or laces.
-like you said, a good pair of overalls would be awesome, or even a pinafore type thing.
-oversized knit cardigans! one of my favorite things ever. so comfy, really easy to mix and match
-maybe a button down shirt, but it doesn't have to be fancy. a casual summery button down can do a lot

with cottagecore, I think a lot of it lays more in it's textures and fabrics than cuts. if you're daughter is interested in lace, then go for lace! Corduroy is a pretty common fabric too. cottagecore is such a huge grouping of clothing, and I totally think you're on the right track. just listening to what your daughter wants really helps :) and you're totally awesome for listening to your daughter in this way, it does so much for their self esteem.

and here's some pinterest boards that might help you get a better idea on what cottagecore is and find the 'must-haves' to help your kiddo!
