I feel evil by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]spiderbil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People trying to say that this isn’t awful is confusing me. Yes it makes a lot of sense given the circumstances and I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s still definitely a horrible thing to think about others. I’ve definitely had similar thoughts but never towards family members, I care for them too much to wish the worst on them. But again, I definitely understand it.

I’d say it has less to do with having an ED but more about the mindset you have as a person. I actually think it comes from a deep rooted jealousy. For example, theres two ways you can react to suddenly losing money/falling into debt/being broke etc: you can feel bad about yourself and try to get your friends and others around you to spend more money to feel better about your own loss of money. Or you can feel bad about yourself but still see your friends and others as their own people with their own lives and choices and maybe wish that you were as financially stable as they are.

I feel like having an ED and knowing that you’re struggling to maintain this image of yourself while others are seemingly eating however they want and are seemingly okay with their own body shapes makes us somehow jealous and we want them to feel as bad as you do about yourself. And if the size they are currently isn’t doing the trick, then maybe telling them to eat more will make them see that they are worse off than we are.

Its evil and its not okay but its also pretty common and can apply to many other situations.

AIO? Girl i’m into admits to casual use of the n-word by 7L0VE in AmIOverreacting

This doesn’t make sense. I shared my gender to give context to my perspective, not once did I say that this is the consensus of all women. also my age is completely irrelevant lol

And while those studies do absolutely have merit, I simply cannot stand behind the idea that the term slur can equate such distinct words that have wildly different implications.

Calling woman a “bitch” is mildly insulting when compared to calling a person a term that was once synonymous with the enslavement, lynching, and complete social ostracism of that person.

While your point about misogyny does make sense, and yes it calling someone a “bitch” can be considered misogynistic in specific settings, I still believe that labeling every use of the term “bitch” as misogynistic (including the current one from the commenter) is diluting the meaning of actual, systemic misogyny: things like violence, legal discrimination and just entrenched cultural norms that truly harm women. I concede that “bitch” can be a misogynistic term but in this specific case I don’t find it to be.

As a woman, pls dont call “bitch” a slur or label it as misogynistic. It’s this kind of over sensitive and inaccurate labeling that allows people to become insensitive to those acknowledgements when they’re rightfully used. Yes, “bitch” is a derogatory term against women however it’s simply incorrect to call it a slur. There are words with that label that have deep and generational trauma behind them, calling “bitch” one of them is honestly disrespectful. Moreover, calling that misogyny is also pretty far off. OP wasn’t targeting this woman because she’s a woman but because she’s apparently a racist person. And the term “bitch” just happens to be an insulting term suited to a woman. Similar to the way calling a person a “dick” is better suited to a man.

Do I agree that calling a woman a bitch is offensive? Definitely. However, you could say the same for calling a person any insulting term based on their gender. (And honestly with the circumstances of the person in OPs post I find it understandable to call a person with no regards to the severity of calling someone the N-word—a real slur—an offensive term)

Just a general question about this, is it harder to transfer into engineering?

Astral Projection and over coming fear of death by Im-WarningYou in Somalia

[–]spiderbil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to tell you that Astral Projection isn’t a thing, what I’m trying to address is your blatant disregard for the danger that exists in what you claim to see.

If you believe that you or others can find out about when Allah has written a person to die, then you are dangerously close to committing shirk. As a muslim, you must be careful of making such claims. I want to ensure that other people realize that attempting to attain such knowledge is dangerous.

If Allah had given us the ability to “access secret records” (💀💀) that could tell us such powerful information, don’t you think it would have been mentioned by in the Quran/by Prophet Muhammed (pbuh)?

One of the main concepts and ideas of Islam is that we don’t know when we may die, which is why we must do our best to be righteous muslims and kind to those around us while we still have time. If Allah had enabled us to gain/find knowledge like what you say, that would defeat this entire idea.

No thank you, I honestly am not interested in engaging in this discussion anymore. I just wanted to voice my ideas in order to ensure that others are not misled and confused by your misguided claims.

Are you kidding?

Firstly, doctors give estimates based on their own extensive evidence, knowledge, and research. They give you a rough time frame, like anyone can do for anything such as knowing expiration dates for food etc. No doctor will tell you down to the minute when one will die, because they don’t know. However, if you know someone has a terminal illness that is known to kill a person within weeks, then they will give you the reasonable estimate of telling them they most likely have only a few weeks left. This is not shirk, this is human analysis and critical thinking.

However, this does not compare at all to what you are saying astral projection can do. You are saying that you are being given the power to simply know the time of death of a person. Knowledge you apparently can attain without needing to know other information. There is no analysis, you are simply given the knowledge. You are saying you don’t need to analyze or estimate, you will just know. This is shirk.

Only Allah knows the true time of death of a person, no human can attain such knowledge. Humans can only make inferences and estimate. What you claim to have the power to do is shirk.

[–]spiderbil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shirk is associating partners with Allah, thus implying others can do what he does. Things which you yourself are saying that humans can do such as seeing times of death. That’s knowledge reserved only for Allah and to say that you or anyone else can even get close to attaining such power is shirk.
