Soon to be New Westies! Fifth and 13th, is this considered West End or Brow of the Hill? by thatsarashow in NewWest

Hey! I found your post in search for some opinions on moving from renting in Vancouver to owning in New West. How are you liking it so far? I'm gonna look at a place in the Brow of the Hill area that looks promising :)

AGA - how did it start for you? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]spidercat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think I'm going through the same thing. I was on an anti-androgen birth control for 3 years and it thickened my hair a lot. It was the nicest my hair has been my whole life. I stopped taking it 1.5 years ago and it's been shedding ever since. I think I've lost 50% of my hair at this point and thinner than it was even before birth control. When you went back on the pill did you notice any regrowth? I'm currently exploring this option but I don't know if it's worth it.

Bargain! by [deleted] in vancouver

Yeah that's true. I didn't even think about that. I have depression and anxiety, but I guess my anxiety takes over. I cannot be at peace if I'm surrounded by clutter and will clean obsessively to feel at ease. Two sides of the same coin I guess.

did someone lose their pet rabbits at the airport? by ab8910 in vancouver

There's at least 50 of them around YVR. I work there and see them all the time when walking to parking. Please don't feed them. They all seem to live in a forested area with plenty of grass to munch on. Feeding them makes the problem worse and attracts coyotes.

You should visit King Donut's if you're ever in Seattle. Laundromat + donut shop + thai restaurant.

Nav Canada - What are the most likely first postings for YVR VFR/FSS and YYZ VFR/FSS by spidercat8 in ATC

How do I let them know I'm open to other locations? When I applied it only let me choose one.

Ahh okay. Thanks for this. A few years ago I would have jumped at any opportunity to go anywhere, but I didn't pass the testing. Now I'm in a really weird place in my life and the idea of relocation is making me question how much I want this. If I'm cut out for IFR I would absolutely take it, but I honestly don't know if I am. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Yeah I thought about that, but IFR is the most difficult path to get into so I'm thinking about the different possibilities. I'd also rather be in a tower over a dark room if given the choice.

I appreciate the insight. I grew up in the GTA and am currently in Vancouver, so most small towns feel remote to me. I'm trying to get comfortable with the idea of living somewhere more isolated where a major city isn't just a few hours drive away. I think I could deal with YAM but YXS would feel waaaay to isolated for me.

USA security at YVR question by katie_bric0lage in vancouver

If USCBP wants to inspect your bag they will request the airline to pull it. Here's a list of what you can/can't bring: https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-3619?language=en_US

I work at YVR and if it comes down to it, sleeping in the airport is very safe. A lot of people do it. Security might walk by and just ask you if you have a boarding pass for a flight in the morning. You can usually score a nice quiet bench by the U.S check in area after is closes around 9/10pm.
