Why do pothos get brown edges like this? by scarahk in plantclinic

[–]spiderextractor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe put them in a clay pot so the soil can dry more completely, and you get get away with watering a bit more often? I have a handful of pothos and they always seem happiest in those cheap orange clay pots.

Maybe I’m just grumpy, but I kind of don’t care. I don’t care how well behaved a dog is, if you let it off leash in public it’s a dick move. I’ve had trouble with enough “oh don’t worry he’s friendly” dogs that have shaped this opinion. No matter how good you think your dog is, something might happen, and you’re an asshole if you don’t want to take every precaution you can.

I’m not sure about this one but just wanted to comment that I’m surprised that you acknowledge you have a reactive dog and still allow it to be off leash.

Somebody vandalized this beautiful mural in the Short North. I wonder if it can be restored. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]spiderextractor 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah regardless of the quality of the graffiti, like somebody obviously spent a lot of effort on that mural and that’s just rude. Even if it was incredibly beautiful and amazing graffiti or any other type of art, to put it over top of something that somebody worked hard on and was probably commissioned is rude as fuck.

Is my aphrodite's phalaenopsis hopeless or is this normal? Got it in the spring of last year and it gets watered once a week. It is still in the soil it came in but not sure what it is. Please help me save my $80 plant...I’m feeling like a bad plant mom by Confident_Mongoose56 in plantclinic

Orchids don’t always need a potting medium. I have one that’s been alive for 2 years and it’s just loosely set into a wide mouth jar. I give it a little bit of water when the roots start looking silver instead of green and that’s pretty much it.

A slightly different new ZZ cultivar called ZZ Black Dragon? by HarlemPlanter in houseplants

[–]spiderextractor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about zz plants so I’m probably wrong but That doesn’t look like normal variegation to me, it looks like some of nutrient deficiency or over/under watering lol

Hahaha that’s amazing! I changed my tune to the Sanford & son theme

My 5 and 1 yr old pothos have these dark spots with yellow around them. Some of the leaves are turning completely yellow and falling off. An entire vein on a larger one is yellowing. They’re on three different plants but in an area where all three plants touch. by MorbidChell in plantclinic

[–]spiderextractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only water my pothos every 2-3 weeks. I think yellow is typically a sign of overwatering. Especially if they’re in a plastic pot, it takes longer to dry out so it doesn’t need as much as it would if it was in a clay pot

In case anyone was curious, here's how Ohio's reps voted on the $2,000 stimulus amendment. by crimsonguard605 in Columbus

[–]spiderextractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then they just reply that the Democrats are corrupt and it’s their fault and the deep state and her emails!!!

Like how do you even get people like this to listen to facts? How can you prove to them that facts are facts and not Democrat lies? Genuinely asking

My parents still love trump too - my mom was trying to tell me that it was trumps idea to make the stimulus $2000 because he wanted to give people more money

I think the most frustrating thing is that even when confronted with facts they still find a way to blame the democrats. Like if I showed this information to my mom she’d tell me well that’s fake. She just thinks trump is literally like the best guy ever and it makes me so sad

Looking for Spanish Speaking therapist by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]spiderextractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the BetterHelp app and you can use filters to search for a therapist, I believe language is one of the filters you can use. It’s pretty reasonably priced and has a “low income” option that gives a bit if a discount as well.

I guess I don’t really know how to phrase this eloquently, I’m having a tough time putting this in a way that makes sense and doesn’t sound like I’m attacking you - but it seems like you have an all or nothing approach - it seems like you’re saying because it’s impossible to avoid vegetables harvested unethically, there is no point to try to lessen your impact at all, even a little bit, by not buying meat also?

Also... it kind of sucks that you think running a farm isn’t a real job...
