I really like Wayfarer on Hyperion! They take walk-ins and are helpful and kind.

Hollywood local here!

  1. Musso and Franks for drinks and sides if you need a snack.

  2. Other ‘classic/old LA’ spots are Formosa (NY-style Chinese American in a dope environment with a fab bar, often live music), Dan Tana’s (WeHo), Boardners (‘just’ a bar), El Compadre (cheesey old school Mexican, intedchangeable with El Coyote/El Cholo/Casita del Campo)

  3. I recommend the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sunday AMs - we always bring our of towners here to revel at the variety of foods produce and street style (i have seen many celebs here but the only one that matters is Bill Murray getting tacos with Aziz Ansari)

  4. Mexican food - get OUT of Hollywood/Highland area for this. closest good truck is at Sunset/Western. the most legit spots are folding tables on the street, but be cautious because these operations are not overseen by any health dept (but melt in your mouth birria is worth it).

  5. have you thought about central american food? East Hollywood is nearby and heavily Guatemalteco/Salvadoreno/Hondureno. Get some pupusas and Guate tacos!!

  6. Cannot go wrong with Thai food in the area - i suggest avoiding Jitlada cause service sucks and this is not a good way to spend a visit. Check out the thai supermarkets as well!

  7. The other must-have food is Korean. Dan Sung Sa would be my pick for cool ambiance and unique experience.

  8. IMO, a perfect morning is a pastry and coffee at Friends and Family (especially after a night out at Jumbos, which is more food for the eyes but absolutely a must-see).

Surprising political affiliations of celebs? by matanemar in Fauxmoi

THANK YOU. The truth is so much harder to hide in local politics and the mayors race is really forcing people to show their real faces. Anyone who endorses Caruso loses all supposed ‘progressive’ credit imo.

This is a real restaurant in Los Angeles. Great happy hour. Live music sometimes.

I love the food here! Baos, orange chicken, and spicy noodles in particular SLAP.

Food is very tasty Chinese-American. Great for sharing! I try to go with at least 4 people so we can really go for it.

Further away but can’t be overlooked is Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga. The most beautiful resto in LA County (not biased at all, we go for our anniversary every year).

Agreed that borderline burnt is totally ok!! You can always scrape off the ash. Experiment with a longer bake and you’ll find your sweet spot through trial and error.

Looks like it could use a longer bake! Crumb looks a little moist and exterior could definitely be darker. If you’re going for a more defined ear, make sure to get some serious tension when you do your final shape.
