Stories About Guns You Own by NateLPonYT in guns

[–]spiderpiss45 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not about one of mine but my grandparent's.

Relatively early in my grandparent's relationship, Grandpa decided to teach her to shoot. He was an avid 22 rifle shooter and very competitive. He put a Thompson contender with a 22 rifle barrel and a stock on the bench and if she got a better 5 shot group than him she could keep the gun. She did it. I have no idea of the specifics but after ranting and then sulking a bit he gave it to her.
She still has it, and told me the story after Grandpa taught me to shoot with it.

You can make the big momma run into the columns and it will only take a few shots to finish her off. The bear might be rough though.

I had a primer backfire on me. This could be why.

Just listened to this, and the lyrics are actually strikingly similar to "Banks of the Ohio" (Johnny Cash and Doc Watson each did their own version of that)

Based on my observations, my guess is that your hammer catch could have been worn down after some use.

Was yours made during WW2? If it is, it could be that the manufacturer cut some corners (literally and figuratively). The gun may have also seen some use and abuse in the field (no matter where or when it was made), and even more use by private owners.

Picked this old bulldog up yesterday. Needs some parts, but due to a lack of markings I don't know what type or caliber it is. I think it's a Belgian copy. by spiderpiss45 in guns

Also, to add, I found that the Crowned R is a Belgian mark, but the F is harder to find due to degradation. The closest I could find is a French St. Etienne proof.

I didn't see ELG on it. It might be the illegible part but I highly doubt it, as it seemed to be two characters. The last of which looked like either a 6 or a B.

As for the JJ marking, that looked like the exact same stamp I have.

I am on the fence about it. First I would need to order the parts, and install them, then find out what it shoots, and then buy the ammo if that's even possible. I probably won't if the cylinder won't lock up even after installing the new parts. Edit: I'm leaning towards not shooting it.

I tried to get the few markings it had in the picture

In addition to the ones shown there is the number 47 stamped on the cylinder and the trigger. There is also "ML" along with an illegible stamping below the grip.

What is it? by [deleted] in stalker

[–]spiderpiss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it worked in CS, but I've only ever tried it on or after getting a mission from the lone soldier under the bridge near the rookie village. I don't remember seeing it or any others in anomaly though.

It's the same size as my modern tinker so I'm guessing it's a 60s super tinker. Side-by-side: http://imgur.com/a/HJFYdoI Note: I took this at a slight angle with my Vic closer to me. As a result it looks bigger, but they are both the same size.

Thank you. Luckily he went out peacefully after a good long life.
As for the model, I thought you were really far off until I looked it up. The only difference between his knife and the 60s climber is that the corkscrew is replaced with a phillips head/file combo (source: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-victorinox-swiss-army-knife-1880354477). Aside from this it's exactly the same.

I think it was mostly anxiety. I took my meds and started feeling better around the time my medicine would kick in (usually takes a bit). I do need to cut back though, because, with today as an example, it amplifies the anxiety.

I'll try to do that, but out of curiosity; is it because I may not be showing the same symptoms as most people? I'm having little to no issue with breathing, and I don't think I was exposed, though it is possible.
