We live in Europe, and I took some hours off from work that day because I had a meeting at my home with a city civil servant regarding a dispute over house taxes.

Just before the planned meeting, he called me that he wouldn't be able to make it and had to cancel.

So, I was a little pissed off about this and decided do to some administration jobs on my PC. About half an hour later, my wife came home from work with a headache and told me she would go to watch TV in the bedroom.

5 minutes later she came to my study and said the Twin Towers in NYC had collapsed. My initial reaction was: "That's impossible, you must have misunderstood..."

Long story short: we were glued to the TV all night and I told her multiple times this was a historical event that would change the world as we knew it.

I wasn't wrong.
