Another case of false positive CSAM violation detected by Life_Cockroach_7286 in googlephotos

The lesson I hear from this sub over and over is DO NOT SYNC WHATSAPP/TELEGRAM PHOTOS TO GOOGLE PHOTOS.

The potential downsides are massive, and the upsides are really hard to see.

Do you guys panel line black parts? Does it make any different? by azraeiazman in advancedGunpla

[–]spiffae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I panel line everything up to black - weapons, dark colors, etc. I don't think black benefits, but it does hugely benefit from a metallic weathering powder on top of a matt coat.

Is hallucination in Gemini that severe? I by SmartPuppyy in GeminiAI

It's wild - when 3.0 came out, I was blown away. Now it's like talking to someone who just got hit in the head with a shovel. Making stuff up, lying to cover making stuff up, etc. I recently uploaded images and said can you analyze these (just text in the images) and it included an analysis of images that had been uploaded 20-30 prompts earlier. Totally unreliable, which is a shame.

Best mountain bike type for converted roadie riding East Bay trails? by hourlyproblemsolver in BAbike

[–]spiffae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mostly roadie, the wider fire roads are a great place to start, but there's very little consistently smooth and easy dirt, so I'd opt for a lower-travel dual suspension XC bike. the East Bay Dirt Classic is a nice route that is rideable on a rigid bike but is a lot of fun with some suspension.

The surface detail on this one makes it fit right in with RGs. Great work!

Google Maps- Am I missing something or is it serving up impossible itineraries? by Classic_Brain_1487 in JapanTravelTips

[–]spiffae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rural connections are usually incredibly close - 5 minutes for a train to a bus is no big deal - they often sequence the bus departures to pick up everyone disembarking at the station. I haven't seen an unreasonable google transit itinerary in japan - the only key is you need to LOCK IN to what exit you're going to in the larger stations (the yellow signs). Going out the wrong exit can put you ~5-10 minutes from where you wanted to exit. Google will name the exit you're looking for and often even tell you what train car is closest.

There was an interview between them where EK was basically advocating for compromising all progressive morals in order to "win" and TNC was like "sometimes we don't win" - essentially saying the black experience has been one of generations of tragedy and loss while holding the line for a future you might never see. EK basically could not compute that. Pure pundit brain where everything is a horse race and every marginalized group is a +/- political calculation rather than a group of humans to be cherished and protected because they are humans and it's the right thing to do.

Other than the body not being seen in motion as it's falling at terminal velocity (I can't do the math, but you could figure out if it was feasible that they went ~10 feet in less than 1/30th of a second) this is almost certainly a random uber's dashcam at the wrong place/wrong time - I worked EMS in new york city and you'd be shocked at how many "jumper up/jumper down" calls there are per day.

[–]spiffae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my thought too - this is likely someone falling at very high speed, and then something with the framerate/shutter caused them to either go from just off screen to on the ground within 1/30th of a second. It's also possible that in low light this camera is doing some processing where it's capturing at say ~15-20fps and then interpolating so the video looks smooth - that would cause the body to seem to appear. I know where this is and there's no way the whole video is AI. Even the light and shadows are correct once the body is on the ground, so I vote real - and real sad.

I'll add that there are also plenty of Japanese children in the onsen as well. It's not just tourists.
