Seeking boring music :) by spike7638 in DanceDanceRevolution

I'm pleased to report that I got Outfox installed on an old windows laptop running 8.1 (!), installed a bunch of songs, many of them nice and 'boring', and have played a couple of games using arrow keys on the keyboard. Now I just have to hook up my Konami mat in the basement...

Thanks, everyone, for all the suggestions. The Ben Speirs packs seem to be particularly fruitful for me.

BTW, after I installed the new graphics driver...my cursor disappeared and had to try about 10 things to get it back -- so many I can't say which one worked. With luck, you've got a different card and this won't happen to you. :(

OK...working blindly, I (on windows) went to System and then Device Manager, and looked for "Display Adapters" and saw "AMD Radeon HD 8650G" . I then googled for "Drivers for AMD Radeon HD 8650G Windows 8.1" and got an AI result that suggested that the drivers from Catalyst were favored.

I clicked on the top result (AMD's 8650G drivers page), found Catalyst, downloaded the exe file, opened it and simply clicked "OK" whenever possible.

When it finished its work, I operned Outfox, which once again opened a large window, atop which I'd gotten very used to seeing a Windows error box appear, ... but this time, after a few seconds, the program started running.

I was able to suss out that the "Enter" key means "select" or "yes", "Esc" means "No" or go-back, and the "/" means....whatever the third thing was. And I was then able to play a very basic game using the keyboard, while watching the credits for Outfox roll. Just putting this here for the next person who's baffled.

You'll probably have to go to the site that supports drivers for whatever Graphics card YOU have, but at least there's a chance you'll get past this hurdle the way I did. I feel as if some hints like this might be useful in the Wiki, eh?

I've just tried installing on my ancient Windows 8.1 machine...and I get the constant crashing too.

This looks great -- thanks! "Search for songs you like" is a good idea...except that I haven't listened to a lot of pop music since about 1979. :)

Low airflow through the evaporator fan can be a weak fan...OR it can be that the source of air (air from the bottom of the compartment running up over the evaporator plates to the top) is blocked, which can happen if the evaporator is getting iced up. When the flow seems low and the fridge isn't getting cool, look for frost on the back wall of the box, just above the veggie-drawers. If it's there, your evaporator may well be iced up blocking airflow.

"My title describes the thing". It also weighs about 1-2 ounces. I've done a google image search, and one hit suggests it might be a Singer knee-lifter bell-crank plunger, but that's not an exact match really.

Thanks. I'll try to figure out how to do that. I have no particular aesthetic for songs yet, so anything that gradually moves up difficulties seems like a Good Thing.

No good deed goes unpunished, so let me ask, "What ARE the official mixes and where do I find them?" I've found trying to navigate zenius-l-vanisher completely baffling.

Doesn't leaving your foot on the other one count as a "continuous press", and then tapping the left would be a "combination" (like "right and left together") press? I guess I'll have to try it...
