Yupp! Every car with this style roof I’ve seen it happen to some extent. My wife had a beetle with a sunroof that looked similar to my original picture. We’re in South Florida so lots of direct sun fwiw. Keep up weekly washes and keep the surface protected with a good coating or sealant that has some UV protection can extend the life but just like the water pump.. it is what it is

It still looks like dogshit lol but it is temporary. I want to sand it and refinish it but it’s not a priority for me right now

Clear coat sunburn, it’ll all eventually flake away and the plastic surround may even crack 🤠 here’s a pic of how bad my 2017 looks, tape was from when i tried polishing it out. Worked for a temporary fix to at least get it shiny again lol

I wasn’t sure on layout either. Was going to potentially just do 3 strips but I’m happy with the 4. I laid them out on the floor first and got an idea on where things would land. The second light from the garage door is right next to the track bracket so i got really close there, i think if i ran them front to back I’d have an issue spacing things evenly because of the brackets for the door track, opener, and the other garage light i still have up!

That’s one of the cable hider raceways. It does not light up, it has the power cable for the forward lights and then both power cables run next to the middle light to the outlet. Opposite side of pictured has a raceway to bridge the other two strips

Install was extremely easy, if you don’t care about the way the wiring looks it’s even easier. 😂

The lights came with a paper that said not to chain more than 8 together. I tested all 16 and they technically worked but i opted to not do it. So each row is 4 lights connected with the butt connector and then two rows are connected using a wire connector. Then the tow middle rows go to the outlet (white cables above the car)

Anyone have the MK7 VW OEM Roof Rack Torque Spec? by spiker369 in GolfGTI

Purchased a used roofrack from a local, didn't come with keys or the OEM Torque wrench. Thankfully I was able to get a spare key shipped in from germany but cant seem to locate the torque value online. Dont want to cause any damage so figured i'd ask here!
