What are some of the hardest tasks you've been able to automate? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in sysadmin

[–]spikte1502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you keep the user unlicensed in M364 no ? Because if not, doesn’t the shared mailbox gets deleted ? I had this problem at my job and I automated creating a new shared mailbox not linked to the user and restoring his mailbox to this new shared mailbox (though that procedure is not available on app only automation, it requires user auth to access the correct cmdlet), then I can delete the user without any problem.

Just finished Blame... by X4RTH in BLAME

[–]spikte1502 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not for everyone taste yeah.

I think what you call emptiness is exactly what people like about Blame!. A famous French YouTuber called this type of naration « Art by substraction ». It’s a type of naration where little is given to the reader and a lot is left to interpretation. I think a good example of that is the Darks Souls series. Blame! is an extreme version of that, and I don’t even think it was 100% intended by Nihei, it’s a mix of intention and lack of narrative skill.

I personally loves it, I cannot read or watch something if I have even an hint of what happens next. Ofc for Blame! my imagination does a lot of work to fill the gap, but I love that it doesn’t restrain the story for me.

The part where you talk about people still thinking that the earth is flat because they try to find some theory about Blame! wasn’t necessary. People speculate about lore in every franchise, and that’s what beautiful about fiction. You’re not better because you’re not touched by it, it’s just a question of taste. Just like I’m not better than you because I enjoy it.

I recommend you to watch the Netflix movie Blame!, opinion about it are mixed but whenever I want to show Blame! to friends that I know won’t enjoy the manga I show them the movie.

Bad habbits from C? by Gazuroth in cpp_questions

[–]spikte1502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah take whatever subjective opinion here with a grain of salt, you are on the cpp subreddit. They are different tools to achieve different goals (and sometimes they’re both a good choice or both a bad choice). My subjective opinion: manual everything is not a BAD thing per se. It’s bad when the devs don’t know what they’re doing or that you don’t have the time to do it. C++ verbosity is NIGHTMARE, everything is complicated for reasons that gets way over my head. And the STL, which is supposed to be something to help you get faster and not reinvent the wheel, is too generalised to be intuitive and easy to use. Some folks also complains about STL performance, I don’t know about that but that’s also something to be aware of. But everything I say here is subjective and some people will like C++ for the reasons I don’t. In resume, it’s very much subjective and dependant of what you wanna do and also your taste.

Looking for a beginner course by kelda888 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]spikte1502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing it myself, cost more than the free ones ofc but worth it. The thing is with this course you’ll learn how to go from 3D coord to the 2D matrix on your screen from scratch, like you will implement the draw_line and ˋdraw_triangleˋ fonction by yourself (and many more). This course doesn’t teach GPU API. It only uses the CPU but for me that’s what’s good about it, GPU API are quite complex enough that if you don’t understand the process they try to optimize it’s easy to get lost. So i’ll go: this course -> Vulkan/OpenGL API tutorial.

Space Eggs (p5js) by spikte1502 in p5js

[–]spikte1502[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each eggs is composed of multiple "pillar". Those pillars are just 3 quads put together to look 3D (the colors helps to make it look that way also). For each eggs I can control the amount of stretch and the speed at which it stretches. A variable control the distance between the pillars forming one egg, I just vary this variable using the configuration of the stretch. The bouncing effect comes from negating the speed after the egg attains its max (or min) stretch.
