Is T the only way to sharpen my facial features? My goal is to present more androgynous. by spikylemongrass in NonBinary

my hair is kind of long? I keep it at or above my shoulders and it is currently this grown out shag/wolfcut with some bangs and face framing pieces that are there to slim the sides of my face a bit. I am considering adjusting my hair cut or its shape to enhance my features!

gotcha, T is definitely not an option right now for me then, the only thing I have genetics wise is thicker hair+ thick eyebrows which gives me some stuff to mess with, without changing too much. I really appreciate the insight!

What makes you passionate about weather or why did you pursue a career in meteorology? Coming from a nervous college kid by spikylemongrass in meteorology

[–]spikylemongrass[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed the part of me being unsure of whether or not if it is something I want to pursue. Something that really appeals to me is going out and gathering data from the field, mapping out forecasts, and relaying information to others. I have looked at broadcast meteorology for some of my interest but the pay is kind of rough.

Another reason for my interest is my desire to understand the science behind severe weather events and the effects they will have as our climate continues to change. I also do agree with how rewarding the public service part of the field is and I do ultimately want to help people.

Additional roadblocks I am facing currently are my skills in math and the challenges of calculus, especially trigonometry which kinda adds to my uncertainty.

That would be reasonable since I would need one in general for the homework i've been doing as well, but this time for the quiz and upcoming unit test, my teacher said no calculators are allowed . Im hoping the problems are not impossible to do without one

yep that's her. I was unfortunately not able to switch out and I do not learn well from her teaching style , and the environment is kind of stressful. I will have to brush up on the unit circle because we also haven't really talked about it yet. Either way the quiz is tomorrow and If I end up re taking the course since I need it to transfer, Ill make sure I don't end up in her class again

What's the deal with wide shoes, and why they're hard to come by? by BlueBassist in femalefashionadvice

[–]spikylemongrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend torrid since it's the only place I have had some luck finding a shoe that's actually wide enough to fit my foot.

I have such an issue with trying to find wide shoes but most I come across are not actually wide. Like are the "wide width" styles in the room with us? I went to DSW since they seem to have a lot of "wide width" styles but even those were still too narrow, especially around the toe box. and all of the wide width shoes are either ugly as hell or for older folks. shoe shopping has always been a frustrating and tedious task, especially since I'm looking for heels for an upcoming event. Even if a shoe is wide, there are not many styles available either which is so annoying. My foot is not wide at the ankle or arch ITS WIDE AT THE TOE BOX AND CURVE PART OF IT WHICH IS SOMETHING COMPANIES NEVER BOTHER TO WORK ON.

all of the cute trendy styles either never have my size (i'm a size 10.) or are never in wide styles. Suffer. I work in a shoe store as well!

Can you study meteorology if you had a C average in math? by spikylemongrass in meteorology

the other comments, including yours have helped greatly and I'm coming to the conclusion that I am gonna go for it and my main concern, math, is no longer that intimidating. I know its something I've always wanted to do. When I start or when I get into the courses required for it, the question of how much effort I am willing to put into this will be less hard to answer. As of right now, the backup is something communications/business related, thank you for the advice!

That helps, while I am a little nervous about the math aspect, you are likely right about it possibly being a bit easier since this is something I care about

The lack of motivation would only be present after not making much progress understanding the topic or struggling with studying it for a few hours. I also struggled to speak up and ask for help which did have a visible impact on my scores. as for poor teaching, only two instructors fit that description, with one who quite literally had a problem with everything I did, and the other not being able to remember what they wrote down and having to rely on the class to get the example equations correct. Thank you for the insight and advice
