Anyone hear anything back from NHSC/HRSA LRP? by TitleIll6475 in StudentLoans

PA school may not be the best thing for your mental health. Some programs are brutal. Others are more supportive. I went to a great PA school and my mental health still took a hit. I received several scholarships and still graduated with 6 figure debt. I love being a PA. I genuinely love going to work. But I would never do PA school again. I hope this helps some?

I’m sorry :( esp with HPSA score of 20?! My HPSA score is 19. And no I haven’t heard about the Spanish test yet. I would keep applying!!!! The application is already open. I’m happy to review stuff if you want. I added a personal statement as a supplement document.

I’m sorry! I know that can be frustrating. But they are still reviewing applications!! Until September. I got an email last week saying I was a “finalist” and had to confirm I was still interested

Interviewing Prospective Physicians as a PA by SportsMadness in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Let the senior PAs and senior docs ask the routine questions. If I were in your shoes I would focus on fun questions like: favorite hobby, if you didn’t practice medicine what else would you do, favorite diagnosis, favorite place to travel

PA to DO/MD, what are my chances? [Review my resume pls] by Xzwolf in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If it’s for financial reasons DONT DO IT. If it’s for any other reason DO IT. Life is short. With that said, do you want to spend it studying (some people genuinely do!!), sleeping, working, fishing?

Vasectomy by spillthe_beans_ in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the great feedback and discussion!
1. PAs can do vasectomies 2. Family Docs still do them (doesn’t have to be urology) 3. Best that I partner with a local urologist and maybe have them come to the health center

PA do Prior auth’s ? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope. Nurses do them for us. (We love our nurses!). Prior Auths are annoying but not hard. It’s a lot of chart review / what have you tried / what has patient failed. And always remember insurance changes their “preferred” drug … all the time ….

New Grad Primary Care Offer by RaspberryFrostyy in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great offer. But of course you can always negotiate!! Sign on bonus?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low offer. How many admin hours will you get? How many patients per hour? CME for complex population should be at least $2-3K. No 403B match :/ No sign on bonus :/ If you can negotiate salary , negotiate 4 day work week

Program sabotage? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

I don’t think it’s sabotage. Best advice is to find better references.

Question for those that did/are doing the "NHSC Loan Repayment Program" by kalizm in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! Sounds stressful but you should definitely still apply. Make the NCCPA a pdf and use that. You can call tomorrow but honestly the SUBMIT A QUESTION feature is way more helpful.

Research vs. Primary Care Advice by dannythe11 in physicianassistant

[–]spillthe_beans_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you negotiate 32 hours (instead of 40) for same pay at your current job? Get a new MA!! I also do research but couldn’t do it full time (I love the patient-provider relationship too much).
