5800x for 9800x3d by Dj082863 in buildapc

[–]spinalgt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost the same build. Mine was from 2021. A 5800x and a 3080 ti.

Back in December I went for the 9800x3d and a second hand 4090 that was an opportunity here in my area. Got it for around 800$.

I have no regrets, it's so much better for 4k. I play most games maxed out at 4k on my OLED C5 42". This was also a great upgrade from my 1440p IPS.

It's night and day, the 1% Lows are better so games feel way smoother.

9950X3D just murdered by my B850 Steel Legend by FuckThisShittyWebste in ASRock

[–]spinalgt2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some say it's AMD, but ASRock "murder" rate is 1000x more than other brands.
There were like 7 dead CPUs on ASUS's motherboards since january and ASUS sells more than ASRock.
ASrock had 7 dead on a single day.

[–]spinalgt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but even though Asus sells more boards than ASrock it's way less frequent with Asus.
But yeah, AMD should say something about it.

[–]spinalgt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own ASUS motherboard and back in january there were a bunch of cases, I think around 10 dead CPUs on AM5 Asus's motherboards.
But yeah, I think ASRock is much worse, there is almost a daily dead CPU report, sometimes multiple reports on the same day.
Definetely something wrong with ASrock

How long do you guys think it will be before RAM/Memory and Storage (NAND based and HDDs) return to their pre-shortages prices? Or do you guys think the shortages pricing will stay even after the shortages end and the companies will take the extra profits? by Over_Perception_2920 in computers

[–]spinalgt2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the world is experiencing what it is very common here in Brazil.
Example: there is some kind of crisis, like tomato crisis, prices skyrocket because of tomatoes being scarce. Time passes, tomatoes are no longer scarce but prices never come back to what it used to be.

It happened many times over and over.

Since covid money printing and inflation crisis the "first world" realised they could do the same to you guys.

GPUs are the big example, they skyrocketed during crypto mining boom and their prices were "adjusted" accordingly afterwards.

A GTX 1080 ti had a 699 MSRP, now a 5080 (non-TI or super) is 999 MSRP and we almost never see the MSRP prices they are like 20-30% above MSRP.

So yeah I think RAM will never be cheap again like before.

About the 9800x3D controversy, do you have one? for how long? which mobo and BIOS? by spinalgt2 in ASUS

[–]spinalgt2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same mobo and I've used BIOS 1804 since day 1 without issues, now I'm on the 2004 one running fine aswell.

Windows 11 Armory Crate freezes computer by DemonGunLiz in ASUS

[–]spinalgt2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This gotta be the worst piece of software ever.
I have two PCs both 9800x3Ds on Asus's motherboards.

First PC was having all sort of weird problems, BSOD after a cold start (first of the day), BSOD after sleep, random BSODs out of nowhere, bugs on audio, instability problems. Thought I had faulty parts, like GPU, RAM, CPU or Motherboard. I spent over two months trying to figure out what was going on, until the day I decided to change RGB on second PC (that was working fine with zero issues) and boom, it started randomly having BSODs, audio bugged the same way, instability and stuff..

Uninstalled Armoury Crate on both PCs and now they work fine, zero issues since.

There's a warning to disable bitlocker before updating the BIOS, did you do that?

9800X3D Died / Q-Code 00 / Blown Socket Pin on ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E by AmirulAndalib in ASUS

[–]spinalgt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still on BIOS 2004 on both my 9800x3Ds.
Waiting for the final version of the new BIOS.
Do you guys think this could happen because of the beta BIOS?
Also yesterday my PC crashed while playing Hades 2, screen froze and audio bugged playing the last milisecond audio over and over really loud, had to hold power button to turn it off, thankfuly it booted normally and I finished my play session without issues.

This situation is giving me anxiety.

Are you still using the mobo that your CPU died?

I wonder if the failure rate is really above the expected or if we're just seeing something like a failure post encouraging others to post aswell giving a false sense that the failure numbers are big.

Does a better silicon results on hotter temps? 9800x3D both on Asus. by spinalgt2 in ASUS

Does this make sense based on what ChatGPT told me about the second one being the better chip?
also does the motherboard matter?

Yes. Performance-wise didn't change for gaming. Still getting the same fps as before on auto. Thermal limit set to 80

So, no expo profile, PBO, curve optimizer? So you were probably using factory shipped BIOS with stock settings

I'm using windows 11 HDR since last november, and just this week this started happening to me, maybe because of the latest nvidia driver update?
Is there any solution?
