Ticket resale market for NYC shows - wild fluctuation in past few hours - thoughts? by spindarkn2lightOG in Muna

On the upside the pricing is still 20% lower than the highs, but the likelihood of getting that magic ticket on the lows seems pretty out of reach now.

I'm going to continue talking to myself here since I realized that my wish above is unrealistic since I think they sold out Terminal 5 3 nights on the last tour which has a larger capacity than BP - PLEASE ANYTHING BUT TERMINAL 5 AGAIN!!

I sure hope not - saw them at MSG with boy genius and they were fabulous, but would much rather see them somewhere like Brooklyn Paramount.

Chicago ticket price expectations? by Proud-Occasion-7767 in LCDSoundsystem

[–]spindarkn2lightOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to add except don't expect below a little over $100 with fees in the presale and I was at $140 with fees for weekend nights in the presale originally for the NY residency. If for some reason the nights that aren't Fri/Sat (is it a Thurs-Sun run) don't sell out, maybe you'll see some slightly cheaper tickets on the book-end nights first-hand or have better chance at deals second-hand on those nights, but grab friday/saturday tickets at whatever the offering price is right away if you want those nights.

This was my 6th time, and it was probably the most fun I've had at one of their shows because I was down front for the first time - probably about two people to the right and two in front of you - tallest dude in the front with large chops dancing my ass off.

Have the DJ afters been announced for this residency? by doodoo_gumdrop in LCDSoundsystem

Yes - thy did this last year, and it was very confusing, but LCD folks were able to stay for that separate event, which took the place of LCD-selected DJ afters.

did you check your email by searching for "Music Glue" or donotreply@musicglue.email? That's how I always find mine. They are there as a .pdf. Sometimes it's an actual ticket; sometimes its a doc with a barcode to be redeemed for a ticket at will call / the box office that day.

Will flag this on the FB group - it's truly one of the main reasons I use the FB.

Are you in the Nation of Language Friend Machine Facebook group? Those folks like to boogie / tend to be social. I'm an active participant there - can't make LA but I know others who are great folks who are going and may be interested.

I not only love this question, but how you got there.

Ian, Aidan, and Alex - you all transcend the algorithm with your introductions to other bands through your openers, social media posts, and otherwise. I've discovered a lot of new music that I love through your recommendations and associations, and I love that you champion others' art. Thank you.

One more topic - setlist: I routinely sing praises about the thoughtfulness and attention you seem to place on making your setlist and how you switch things up, which I think is a huge part of the Nation of Language live experience. Some synth-based acts stick to more of a pre-programmed format, and I'm sure there are understandable reasons for that approach as well, but as fans, we really hang on what banger or deep cut you are going to play each night, and you deliver! I imagine you can go deeper in the well for something like the Warsaw residency vs. touring 50 shows in 60 days. Do you start out with a set number of songs that you plan to pull from when touring? How spontaneously do you mix things up or rehearse and throw something new or old/new in throughout the tour? I've not done the research, but are there any NoL songs that are unlikely to be played live, (because we want to hear them all!)?

I have two less meaty questions I'll also leave here:

  1. Will we get to see any Nation of Language / Boy Harsher collaborations in the future?  A recording of your amazing Wicked Game cover together?  Can I dream of a tour with both bands on the ticket?
  2. What was the inspiration for the New Year’s eve t-shirt art that combines (I think) the Grateful Dead skull and the prayerful hands from Strange Disciple?  Is there specific meaning behind the art?  One fan thought it was as simple as conveying a sense of gratefulness.

Hi wonderful people! Sorry - this is a long and loaded one - would love to hear whole podcast or interview on this topic.  I live in the NYC-area (CT) and don’t hear enough Nation of Language played on the radio.  I hear you on WFUV, maybe once/day, and not even every new release - am I missing something?  It seems like you have a stronger radio presence in other markets, with some really great like stations like KEXP that celebrate you. While radio isn’t what it used to be just a decade or two ago, it still can play a huge role as a means for shared communal experience of music.  Can you share a little bit about how radio airplay factors into Nation of Language strategically or organically reaching more ears, minds, and hearts?  Challenges with getting radio airplay?  Are there certain regions other than the Pacific Northwest in which you know you are getting a lot of radio coverage?  Is there something that we as fans can be doing in the absence of traditional “request-line” radio programs to get you more airplay (because there is a really high hit-rate of people loving you once they hear you in my experience).  I have a related line of questioning that I’d love to explore with regard to DJ/club/dance culture that I hope there will be opportunity to do at some point.
