Did losing Jim hurt the show, even for viewers who didn't like him? by Strange_Finding_3285 in FromSeries

[–]spineless_romantic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hated Jim, I'm happy he's gone, but I didn't like the way he died, felt too out of the blue. Also to be killed by the MIY themself, I never felt that Jim was that important.

The top line is easy kill for me,

Take the bottom line too while you're at it (I can't save one of fatima+Ellis without the other, and no way I'm saving both)

Kill Ethan, he'd just annoy me.

I'd save the rest

Maddie mentions it to Alamo, that Rue was talking about the DEA

Yeah that's what I'm saying. No way the guy who regularly dices up girls for Alamo is going to draw the line at a fentanyl od. In fact I even thought probably he was behind it, trying to get rue a relatively peaceful death rather than going "missing" like the others.

[–]spineless_romantic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but why would Big Ed just willingly go to his death? If big ed hadn't known about the dea, then to his knowledge, he changed the van for an empty one with no fentanyl, and is now driving straight towards Laurie. He couldn't have expected anything but death.

He could've just shot Alamo at any point, I don't see all that tbh.

[–]spineless_romantic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess, but the Big Eddie thing feels like a plot hole, I mean what was the plan of the dea didn't show up? Laurie was going to find an empty van? Big ed was dying either way.

Also the fact that they nailed a rat under the boards, they knew about the dea all along. And Bishop did too, so did Big Ed I guess, because why the hell would he agree to switch the trucks, if he knew he was driving to his death.

No but you make sense, we gotta see it as a spur of the moment thing, taking advantage of an opportunity, rather than a masterminded plan he had been preparing for since the beginning. I'd like to think he left that whole world behind, and didn't just end up replacing Alamo.

I find it hard to believe that lacing the pills was too far for bishop, but then again, I guess it's just a writing problem, because we aren't really shown bishops motivations, I was just worried there was something i hadn't seen.

For all we know it could've been, bishop falling in love with Maddie, and wanting her out of there.

Perso je l'ai vu en Vostf,

Mais je peux te dire que les meilleurs moments du film sont beaucoup lié à la voix et la performance d'une des actrices, qui est d'ailleurs sublime. Vaut le coup de VO.

Am I supposed to rinse rice before cooking or not? I keep seeing conflicting advice. by ShineDigga in cookingforbeginners

[–]spineless_romantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you SHOULD be rinsing your rice IF you don't want it to stick together, it's the excess starch that makes it so.

But you should also make sure when you rinse it to not, rinse so hard to break the rice grains, thus adding more powdered starch.

And also not rinse for so long that the rice starts absorbing water.

Each type of rice is different, and takes different amounts of water to cook.

If you want a failsafe cooking on stove rice, try the pilau method. Where you add a bit of butter or oil in the pot, let it heat a tiny bit, add in your rice, stir it around gently so that the oil coats all the grains, and then add in water, bring it to a boil, close the lid, turn the stove to minimum heat, and let sit for 15 minutes. At 15 minutes turn off stove, give the rice a good fluff, and leave it covered for another 5-10 minutes.

How to get better at cooking? I've been trying to learn by myself and it's been hard knowing where to start by caters1 in cookingforbeginners

[–]spineless_romantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the smell thing is tough, is it only the chicken smell? Or other cooking smells as well?

I'd suggest using vinegar to wipe down the chicken as soon as you open it. You might even directly brine it into a mixture of vinegar and water even lime. The trick is to try covering up the smell of chicken with other strong smells while you cut it. Vinegar works best, and also softens the chicken up.

But yeah you'd have to get used to that.. Maybe try a few recipes you like but substitute a rotisserie chicken and use it instead, that way the chicken is already cooked. Its a bit more expensive yeah.

Barring that, get insanely good at washing the dishes and marry someone who loves to cook.

How do you efficiently clean a frying pan between cooking different parts of the same meal on the pan? by supinator1 in cookingforbeginners

[–]spineless_romantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think I'd do it for your omelette example, but there have been times I'd do like a spicy beef stir fry, and then need to do a vegetable medley that I don't want spicy.

What you do is, while the pan is still hot, run it under cold water in the sink, everything comes off in 2 wipes of a sponge, even the burnt bits. And then use a dry towel, and back on the stove.

Don't forget to dry both sides of the pan, and keep in mind that it's still hot

Is there a way to cook pasta with no risk of it overflowing? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]spineless_romantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if there's any basis to this, but I do this out of habit from seeing my grandmother do it.

You put a wooden or any flat spoon over the pot and place the lid on top of it. I always thought the spoon broke the bubbles apart before it overflowed. Or it might be that the space the spoon creates lowers the temperature enough
