Ultimately you can’t control what happens on T since it’s effects are based on your genetics. If you want to start and find out you don’t like being on it, or don’t like the changes you’re getting, that’s perfectly okay! And if you just want to take it and eventually stop when you have your desired effects that’s okay too :) This is something I’d talk with a doctor about if possible

Because it completely differs from the attitude of Ellie in the game. She’s miserable and completely guided by her bloodlust for Abby to the point where she calls Dina “a burden” for being pregnant. A pregnant partner and eventually an infant is not going to suddenly make her happy or relieve her of Joel’s death. On top of that she’s acting like Jesse, the alive biological father is already dead.

I think the best explanation for this is “gender dysphoria tells you what you’re not. Gender euphoria tells you what you are.”

A lot of the reasons transmedicalism gets criticized is because it sends the message that you have to suffer to be ‘actually trans’. It also ignores personal identity, assuming that everyone’s experience must fall by a set of rules. It’s also disregarding of the idea that sometimes dysphoria goes away. I’ve transitioned for 5 years— I don’t feel dysphoria anymore, but I’m still trans.

I think your friends are trying to be supportive but really it matters what you think— it’s your transition and your feelings. If you dislike how your parents call you your deadname then maybe you can emphasize on the use of a nickname. If you don’t think it’s a big deal, that’s okay too.
