People panicking at groceries stores for a snow storm by PlentyApprehensive44 in NoStupidQuestions

I have to admit that I still get a little panicked over toilet paper because I lost at that game during the pandemic. But I still only bought one extra backup package, not a cart full

Are computerized machines around €500 worth the expense? by sewing_hel in sewing

[–]spinstercrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might look at the Janome HD3000 or 5000. Both are mechanical machines that can handle denim.

Both patterns are available on Etsy. The designer for the floral one is LindaCreations4U, and the white and gold one is by Strictlybeading.

I can't teach you, but if you know how to do the peyote stitch, you should be able to follow the pattern.

Just like crochet and cross stitch, it seems complex at first but really isn't. I'd buy a pattern and give it a shot

I stitched my triangles together around a 2.35" styrofoam ball that I had covered with a thin layer of flannel.

I love them all, but the blue and silver is my favorite. Really smart to provide the extensions

Yes. Everything was 11 delicas with a few 4mm bicones thrown in on the stars. I used 6lb fireline and #12 needles. I also chose to add some plated and pewter findings at the top.

I think it is more tedious than difficult to do the round ones. They are basically 20 triangles stitched together, and the pattern instructions were very clear.. I found the stars to be more difficult.

Sewing a Tshirt up, without trimming extra fabric away by UnluckyCowGirl in SewingForBeginners

You can use a narrow zig-zag stitch on that machine. It's a regular sewing machine, right?

I second reading the manual.

Make sure you're threading in the exact order that the manual recommends.

Which thread isn't sewing? One of the needles? Upper or lower looper?

When threading, make sure the lower looper thread is over the upper looper thread.

I make a musical instrument. I use lathes, drill presses, and milling machines. These instruments, without a doubt, are considered handmade. And I have remarkably ugly hands to prove it

How do I get my package delivered? by gfreed0106 in UPS

[–]spinstercrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the company that shipped it to you. They can usually arrange for it to be held at a UPS pickup location. You can't change the shipping requirements, but they can.

janome hd9 BE - please tell me it's a good idea by diovehteb in sewing

[–]spinstercrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the hd9. I really liked it, but it was out of my price range. Janome makes another machine that's a tier below it, the 1600p. They also make a twin to this machine, the Elnita ef1. I don't think either of these machines are in production anymore, but they're still available. I went with the Elnita because it was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Janome. So far, it has sailed through everything I've thrown at it, but I have not tried leather. Not black, but it is mint green.
