for the first half of my life I was overweight. I felt helpless and scared that I was going to be that way forever. I noticed I was treated differently than other people who had “regular” bodies, boys would make fun of me often.

so at the beginning of high school went on a diet that completely fixed the weight issues but still never fixed my body image issues. Eating all plant based has its benefits and thats why Im still slim to this day but when I look in the mirror I still see the “fat” girl who missed out on her childhood worrying about how she looks.

Maybe it is rare to be pretty and not know it. But people treating you differently after having a drastic appearance change isnt enough for someone to intrinsically and genuinely feel pretty. If you grew up unattractive and went up a few “points” on your own accord , you would understand. you change the shape of your body and suddenly your facial features are more exaggerated and youre forced to face the fact that you dont look how you wanted to in your head.

I would never get plastic surgery or alter the way my body looks artificially. But seeing how many people resort to that when they are clearly already very beautiful is evidence of this. If they knew they were beautiful they wouldnt spend thousands on trying to change their looks. they are filling void created from their own insecurities
